WINTER STORM WARNING

Weather

Well.. it’s definitely not *winter* yet. Not quite cold enough to be *winter* and besides this is a very heavy wet snow which we would usually have in the springtime. We usually get some type of snow event right around Halloween which is still a couple of weeks away. I’m hoping this will clear up and bring a nice Indian Summer!

WINTER STORM WARNING
10-10-08

SATURDAY: ADDITIONAL HEAVY SNOW EXPECTED TO FALL TONIGHT AND EARLY SUNDAY… THE LONG DURATION WINTER STORM THAT HAS BEEN IMPACTING THE REGION SINCE THURSDAY NIGHT WILL GENERATE A PERIOD OF EVEN HEAVIER SNOWFALL TONIGHT AND EARLY SUNDAY. THE CENTER OF THE STORM SYSTEM IS BEING SUPPORTED BY ADDITIONAL MOISTURE FROM THE TROPICS. AS TEMPERATURES COOL TONIGHT… RAPID SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS CAN BE EXPECTED CONTINUING INTO EARLY SUNDAY!

FRIDAY: Heavy wet snow will likely result in downed tree limbs and power lines, as well as create difficult to impossible travel.

Conditions across the region through the weekend: Snow will fall through the day Friday with accumulations around 3 inches. Snow will then continue, heavy at times, through the weekend with the heaviest snow expected Saturday night through early Sunday. Snow accumulations of 1 to 2 feet can be expected by the time the snow tapers off Sunday night.

A winter storm warning means significant amounts of snow are expected. Gusty winds are also possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.

I guess they were right. Take a look at the interstate conditions this morning when we were heading into Nathan’s soccer game!
Photobucket - Video and Image HostingJosh’s football game was cancelled today. We were quite surprised since we were under the impression that they didn’t cancel football for snow! Josh was really bummed because he was actually looking forward to playing in the snow!. CRAZY BOY!We were prepared to watch the game. We had hand warmers, blankets, hot chocolate, etc. I was happy to get an extra 3-4 hours back in my day! We went shopping for all of the things I had to pick up for the Seder our co-op is having on Monday. After this event, I shouldn’t have any big things to plan until Christmas so I hope to have some time to blog our first 9 weeks of school here pretty soon!

BRR!! It’s cold here in Denver today and raining. They say it could turn to snow overnight — but we’re not expecting anything like you’re getting.

I’m not ready for winter!

Oh wow! It does look like spring snow.

We had cold temps for about 10 days, frost and in the 30s. I’ve yet to turn the furnace on though. But now we’re having a 5 or 6 day stretch of 70s and low 80s. I love that. I have the windows open and it is just sunny and gorgeous!

But towards the end of next week it will be cold again and be highs in the 50s. We almost always have snow in Oct.

Wow. And here in Wisconsin we are having fabulous weather. It is shorts weather. Wonderfully nice. I do hope you keep your weather to yourself for awhile longer. I know that we will get snow eventually but I am so enjoying this fall weather. It has been simply a great fall. Warmer then usual. The maples are in full color. Some of the others haven’t turned yet. Still there is something beautiful about the first snowfall. I love it when the snow sticks to all the trees as it just seems to paint the world white. Kind of reminds me of Jesus how he takes us after we have played in an icky dirty world and are all filthy and paints us all white again. The first snow reminds me of God just painting the world white – kind of cleaning it up a bit. Stay safe as you travel around in that weather.

You poor things! We had our (only) summer weekend last weekend it was 22*C!!!

We play soccer all winter here. Is it a summer game in the US? Cricket is our summer game.

I LOVE THIS POST!!!!!!! I knew you’d had cold weather, but I haven’t seen any pics.

You totally made my morning, Cindy–a morning that is about 70 lovely degrees, and our big “cold” few days coming up means low 60s. I guess I’ll have to wear pants instead of capris…

🙂 And stop thinking about the snowballs you’d like to throw at me!

SUPER MOON

The Super Moon was shining so bright throughout the night last night. This morning the western sky was a beautiful rainbow of colors as the moon was disappearing over the horizon.

LET IT SNOW

Being in the road building business, one thing we don’t have to worry about is being snowed in. As long as the weather isn’t so cold that we can’t start the equipment, you’ll find our men out and about plowing everyone’s driveways up and down our road and a few …

EARLY MORNING VIEW

I love that the days are getting longer!   There was a beautiful view of the moon early this morning which reminded me of this song by Steven Curtis Chapman.   …”Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee…   Holy. Holy, holy…”
