VACATION PLANNING

Vacations - 2007

A couple of months ago this is the card that Tim and the kids gave me for my birthday. Now, it wasn’t my birthday “card” nor did it contain my birthday “present”, but it did make my day happy nonetheless! You see.. … Tim doesn’t normally like to go on vacation. I LIVE for vacations especially in the winter. I’m one of those people who could just sleep the winter away if given the chance.. not that I would ever get a chance with volleyball, basketball, robot club, etc. Anyway… back to my story. They gave me this card….

and inside was a poem that basically said land or sea the choice was up to ME! It took me quite awhile to figure out what in the world that was all about because we weren’t planning to go anywhere. Tim said his new plan is to not tell me very far ahead since I then get engrossed in NOTHING but vacation planning and that’s all he has to hear for however long it is until he leaves and then we end up staying in places like the Chickee Hut in the middle of the Everglades when I’ve had TOO much time to search and plan (LOL)! So.. back to the card again.. sorry I’m distracted this a.m. Doing it this way we’ve only had TWO MONTHS to figure out what to do. We decided on another cruise. My parents and brother are going as well as two of our friends and one set of their parents. Below is one of our vacation planning sessions!
Everyone brought their laptops and we had a regular internet cafe going on at my mom’s house…. nothing like doubling or tripling the searching capacity! I didn’t have to do all of the planning this time. My brother worked on the car, our friends worked on other parts, etc.
Here the kids are starting to sort their clothes a few weeks early so we can decide what else they need to purchase.
Tim and Josh are being quite patient with the girls and all of their trying on of outfits.
The girls and I went to have manicures and pedicures the week of our trip. It was SO RELAXING. I ended up falling asleep… basically anytime I take time to SIT I fall asleep.

Here the boys are trying on their formal dinner clothes. Nathan has a cute little tux we found on an after Christmas clearance sale.

The ever present “ka chow” face and sound effects (LOL).

Josh is borrowing a suit from a friend of ours… notice the happy smile! He really does enjoy dressing up, but gets embarrased to show that he enjoys it.

Meanwhile…. I’m trying to not get a cold so I’m resting as much as possible…. hard to do these days. Resting while the kids try on and show me all they have packing. The boys were packed a week ahead…. today I’m looking at all of the girls’ dress clothes. I didn’t end up with any pictures of Em, but here is Amanda trying on a few of her outfits.

FINALLY, the day before has come. Josh’s job is to weigh everyone’s suitcases… so far so good!Nathan joined in the action and called out the weight of each bag!I think we’re just about ready to go!

LUGGAGE – DAY 62 of PROJECT 365

WHEW! This is definitely the last of our vacation pictures! The night before you arrive back in port, you leave all of your luggage out in the hallway. During the night the porters come through and deliver it *here* (LOL) and you have to dig through the piles of luggage …
