Cindy, so glad you are able to post while you are vacation. The water looks terrific and warm.
Look forward to more updates.
PS-We got snow today! Enjoy a bit of extra sunshine for me, would you? ๐
1. The Tater Shark is not a true shark because having a bony skelteon it isn’t from the Chondrichthyes class like other sharks.
2. A Tater Shark doesn’t have any dermal denticles either, but it does have some slime that has dried to a scale like texture one would find on a bony fish which will need to be rubbed off at some point in time!
3. The Tater Shark’s fins are more closely likened to those of a cartilaginous fish than a bony fish in that they are thicker and more rubbery than the thin transparent fins of bony fish. See close up picture of the fin below.
5. The Tater Shark is like neither a bony nor cartilaginous fish when it comes to breathing. It can take in water through its mouth like a bony fish but it sends the shark jumping quickly up and out of the water coughing out a spout of steam like a whale pushing air through its blowhole.
6. Just like any other shark, the Tater Shark is a fascinating creature which huants the seas. Its body streamlined in a perfect fusiform shape for super fast swimming. Notice the perfect form below.
