“I hauled them all up to the house in one load” ~Nathan 5/29/09
LOL. It sounds like he was hauling dirt instead of kitties. Some of you might remember how sad Nathan was when his kitten, Whitey, went missing this past winter. Spring has sprung forth new kitties and he’s much happier these days.
One day last week, I heard a high pitched squeak outside my office window and I knew that meant kitties so I called Nathan into my office to see if he could hear anything unusual. He did and ran immediately outside to see….. first there was one, then two, and finally four.
I wouldn’t normally call to bother him about something like kittens when he’s working out of town, but I needed info (LOL). I’m not exactly the animal type, but for Nathan’s sake I was worried about leaving these kittens outside overnight because last year we had some new little kitties and, well, I’ll spare you the details of what happened to them. Suffice it to say we live in the country where all sorts of nocturnal predators roam and we’ll leave it at that.
Anyway back to this year’s batch of kitties. I didn’t want them to meet with the same fate as last year’s kitties so I wondered about bringing them into the house at night. Tim said sure. So, Nathan and I fixed up a little box and brought them in for the night. I was worried that the mama cat wouldn’t want the kittens the next morning, but we needn’t have worried. She accepted them and now we have a new little routine. We bring the kittens in at night when she goes out mousing and predators are roaming. We take them back out first thing in the a.m. and she tends to them during the day. That went on for about a week before she moved them to another location.
