SOLAR LIGHTS

One of our summer projects was to replace all of our outdoor solar lights. Em helped a LOT with this project. It has taken a few days here and there to get to all of the flower beds, but we’re almost done now. I hope to finish all of the areas we currently have landscaped because I want to estimate how many more we might need for future landscape projects so I can purchase them now.

These are the lights we used to have. I liked them, but they were a nuisance. Every time the wind would blow very hard they would fall off from the hook. It wasn’t that big of a deal to go around and put them back on, but now that we have kittens they like to play near the lights and they seemed to come off from their hooks more often now (LOL).

We’ve replaced all of them with the ones below. I’m gathering up all of the pieces and parts to our old lights (above) to give to Amanda so they can light their sidewalk. These lights shouldn’t be a problem for them in town with lots of buildings to break the wind gusts. Out here there’s nothing breaking the wind that comes howling through occasionally. So, we needed something that didn’t dangle.

PhotobucketI know this picture is dark, but I wanted to show you what the front of the house looks like now with all of the solar lights installed.

PhotobucketEmily and I tried to set them just far enough apart that the light cast from one would reach to the edge of the next so the entire sidewalk would be lit for people to see their way out to the parking area.PhotobucketI LOVE the light formation these leave on the ground!

I like your new lights! I've thought about getting some, but I didn't know if they lasted very long or were very bright. But your lights look lovely.

Well, I love the original lights, but it would drive me crazy if they kept falling off! The new ones look great as well and will hopefully be less trouble! 🙂

Oh! Those are very pretty. My husband just walked by and saw me looking at your pictures, and said to me, "No, you can't have any of those." Lol! He knows me too well!

I love those lights. We had them at our campsite and they worked wonderfully. We could use some landscaping help here at our house!! It is not something that either my husband or I do well. I think our motto is – walk faster – you won't notice the weeds. LOL

WOW – those are so pretty! I love how the light breaks on the leaves and ground as well. We have a walk up to the door that really needs these. Of course, first I'd have to clean out the weeds to make room! 🙂

BALANCING ACT

I don’t think I ever mentioned that I was seeing a Physical Therapist last fall for some knee problems.  They said the knee problems could be related to having a weak ankle caused by so many bad ankle sprains.  They suggested balancing activities. Look at what a great husband I …

EXCAVATION 01.19.2011

This summer will mark our 20th year in our home.  WOW.  I have no idea where 20 years went, but I do know the time has finally come to do something about the backside of our house.  We’ve talked about remodeling/adding onto the kitchen for YEARS, but every year anothe year comes and goes …

Making tracks toward home!  The county road from the pit and hayfield entrance to our house is still covered in mud clumps even a couple days after we were out muddying up our rig for the Father’s Day car show yesterday.
