PhotobucketWe had to stay home today until the UPS man delivered the new lens I ordered since its delivery required an adult signature. We knew it was coming today because I’ve been tracking it on the internet since it shipped last Thursday. When the UPS truck came I went out to sign of the package and came back carrying this big box shown above. The kids almost simultaneously blurted out the following questions and statments:

KID QUOTES:JOSH: “Mom, that is a BIG lens you ordered!”EM: “Are you planning to take pictures of outer space or what?” (said quite sarcastically).NATHAN: “Is that something dad ordered?” (I guess I don’t normally order big things).

Here are the first few pictures I quickly took with the new lens. I was most excited about the new lens so I guess I neglected to tell the kids I also ordered a monopod which explains the length of the box…. WOW…. that must be some long monopod. I’ll take it out and look at it next! Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I can hardly wait to use this lens tomorrow night. Some of you might recall I took a photography class a few months ago. As much as I didn’t want to believe the teacher when he said I may as well put my camera away because I would never get a good indoor action photography shot in a low lit gym setting, he was right. I’ve tried and tried and it just wasn’t happening. With 3 kids playing indoor sports for many years to come we decided to invest in a new lens that our our banjo-strumming, photography guru, worship leading friend of ours recommended. Of course he recommended a lens that cost almost double what we paid for our camera – perhaps that’s why it comes in such a huge box with a ton of padding around it? Anyway. We shall see how this thing works tomorrow night at Em’s vb game. Hopefully I’ll FINALLY be able to get some pictures of volleyball, soccer, and basketball that aren’t so blurry!

Cynthia – I can’t WAIT to hear what you think about the new lens. As you say, most of the lens I’ve researched for my camera cost more than the camera itself. Um, that’s not on the budget right at this time.

I’m thrilled to know someone who is trying out a new lens. Let me know about the monopod as well. I’d love to see a picture of the packages themselves. 🙂

Can we make requests?

Most people who enter our church’s car show probably spend the day before polishing and clean up their entries.  Not us!  Nope.  We don’t have a fancy car.  In fact, our rig isn’t even entirely painted.  So, there was no need for polishing and prettying it up!  No, indeed.  Tim …

POLISHING THE JEEP

Our church has an annual car show on Father’s Day which Tim and Josh decided to enter this year.  While most people are out polishing and cleaning their entries, Tim and the kids were out muddying up our entry! They went across the road to our hayfield where it’s still …
