Our first on stop on the Big Island was Pu’uhonua o Honaunau located about 45 minutes from Kona.  Do you see my parents on the left and Nathan by the water?

It was definitely worth the drive and if we ever find ourselves on the Big Island again, we’ll definitely make plans to spend an afternoon here enjoying the beautiful sights and sounds of this Place of Refuge.  Perhaps we’ll plan to visit at sunset which I hear is spectacular from this area.
