I loved the pictures! What a fun day! The weather looked cold…but I like it that way. More reason to have a fire and cozy up. Thanks for sharing!
PUMPKIN PATCH

Today Emily reminded me that we haven’t taken Nathan to the Pumpkin Patch for quite a few years. In fact, we’re not sure if we’ve ever taken him. I guess I’ll have to go back through the pictures from the last few years to see. At any rate, some friends of ours were going. We decided we should tag along.

Now. Please don’t laugh, but there really wasn’t a “pumpkin patch.” It was more like a pumpkin wagon this year due to the early October snow and freeze causing many (most?) of the area pumpkin patches to lose their pumpkins. The owner of this wagonload of pumpkins told us they are about the only ones around who even have any pumpkins left.
So much for taking Nathan to the “pumpkin patch.” No straw bale mazes or hunting through rows and rows of on-the-vine pumpkins to choose just the right one. Nope. Not this year. Today we looked through the wagon to choose our pumpkins. Considering this was the last day, at least they had quite a few to chose from.
Nathan had to pick up a dozen or more pumpkins looking each of them over very carefully to see how much they weighed,
what shape they were, what type of stem they had, etc., ….
before choosing THE ONE he wanted! All smiles now as you can see in the picture below!
Here are some pictures of the kids’ friends choosing their pumpkins…. “S” climbed up on top to take a look. He’s going to stay the night tonight and carve his at our house.
“M” looking through all the pumpkins… Em will go to their house tonight to carve her pumpkin.

Here’s Em with her pumpkin! I can’t wait until she gets home so I can see how she carved it.

Do you see the resemblance?
Tim did most of the carving with Nathan keeping a close eye on the progress…..
And the other side with the crosses!
Emily has GREAT timing. She arrived home just as I was finishing this blog entry so now I can include a picture of her with her carved pumpkin.
