PLANT DISSECTION

Homeschool Co-op

The botany class dissected plants that were donated by a local florist. The project Josh did in class was too large to fit into his nature journal so I had him dissect a carnation here at home. Thanks to the flowers my parents gave us for our anniversary I just happened to have some here at home! First, he looked closely at the flowers and leaves trying to find the stoma/stomata on the leaves and other hard to find parts.
Here is the carnation that he drew and then dissected.

Here are the dissected parts which we covered with laminating paper and put in his nature journal.

Another journal entry… carnation drawing with all of the labeled parts… opposite the sheet with all of the real parts labeled from the dissected plant.
