OH DEAR, DEER

Yesterday, Tim sent a picture of the snow he ran into not far from our home. I didn’t post that picture because, well, snow is getting to be old news and I’m tired of posting pictures of snow.

Today, he sent the above picture. This morning instead of running into snow, he ran into a deer. UGH! This is NOT the type picture I want to see on my cell phone first thing in the a.m., or any time for that matter. Fortunately, he wasn’t injured. If you look closely at the picture above, you’ll see his pickup suffered some damage. Good thing our vehicles all have grill guards on them or else this run in with the deer would probably have rendered the pickup useless. When he gets back home, he’ll have to see what it’s going to take to get it fixed.

I have known people who were very seriously injured when hitting a deer. Yikes! At our house, Greg backed the minivan up into the side of the conversion van. A bumper guard wouldn’t have helped, unfortunately. Oh, it’s only about $2000 worth of damage. Sigh! Does it never end?

Hubby hit a deer one night coming home. There is still a dent in his car from it – we never fixed it. But that was better than the poor guy who had a moose FALL from a highway overpass on to the interstate a couple days ago. Yikes! He was unhurt – just shaken up a bit.

I am so glad that’s all the damage that was done. We’ve had airmen killed in accidents with deer coming in the windsheild. We currently have a man in a coma who hit one on a motorcycle. ugh.

If you live in deer country it looks like those grills are a good investment.

So glad he is okay!

We have one particular section of our road that is ‘deer crossing central’. In fact, just today I had to come to a complete stop to let them cross. Sure enough, just as I started to go again, one changed its mind and ran back across – then the others followed!! Luckily, I was able to stop again.

Oh, you know this is my big fear. We’re looking at new cars, and my big concern is how it might hold up in a deer accident (or what protection it will provide US). Makes you feel pretty safe in the truck! On my road from town, I am used to their “usual” spots, but they still freak me out. (muttering “stupid deer…”)

SEQUENCE

Nathan, Tim, and I played a lively game of Sequence this evening.  I should have won the first round, but SOMEONE had to open up their mouth and let on to someone else my strategy which was to win 2 sequences with one last chip!  That play fell through and …

BALANCING ACT

I don’t think I ever mentioned that I was seeing a Physical Therapist last fall for some knee problems.  They said the knee problems could be related to having a weak ankle caused by so many bad ankle sprains.  They suggested balancing activities. Look at what a great husband I …

Most people who enter our church’s car show probably spend the day before polishing and clean up their entries.  Not us!  Nope.  We don’t have a fancy car.  In fact, our rig isn’t even entirely painted.  So, there was no need for polishing and prettying it up!  No, indeed.  Tim …
