Nathan *LOVES* to sing! He sings ALL of the time. He has “worship team practice” here at the house several times a day. We have band practice a LOT and he tells each of us what to play, when to play, etc. During a slow part of the song he’ll say “now wait for it… wait for it.. wait for it” and then *NOW* when it’s time to really hit it! He’s *hilarious*. He takes his worship leading practice quite seriously, too. Every Monday on our way into town we would have to listen to the worship set from the previous weekend so he could get all of the parts right because he likes to “do worship” for our co-op during lunch. Of course, all the other kids are just running playing and Nathan is up on the front of the stage singing his little voice out and playing his air guitar.
Speaking of the air guitar that’s the main reason for this blog entry. One of his Sunday school teachers is also in our co-op so she knows all about Nathan’s love for leading worship. Here is a really cute kid quote that I just couldn’t pass up blogging (LOL)! I hope you find it as funny as I did.
Teacher: “Nathan, can you play your air guitar for us today?” Nathan: “No, I forgot it at home.” 6/28/08
Is that HILARIOUS or what? (LOL)! I asked him about it on our way home and he said he’d be sure to take his “air guitar” with him next time (LOL)!
Recently, he has started asking if he can go with us to worship team practice. We have always said no before because it can get kind of long and there is *NOTHING* to do but sit and listen to us practice for a couple of hours. He insisted on going. This is what he looked like after 1/2 an hour (LOL).
He also likes to go to church early with us for practice before the service. This weekend he wanted to sit in the service to listen to the music, but the problem is he would have had to sit alone. Now, I’m ok with that because *I* know he wouldn’t be any problem at all. However, I’m thinking some of the senior pastors may have had a bit of a heart attack if they saw a 5 yo sitting alone in the service. I guess people aren’t used to 5 yo’s being so well behaved while unattended, but Nathan is just like that. He LOVES to sit and listen to us practice before the services and play during the services.
In fact, all of our kids have been like that. One time Josh fell asleep in the front row and started to fall over. A lady in the row behind him just gently laid him over on the chair and we picked him up after we were done. I used to let him sit by me at the piano sometimes because I knew he wouldn’t be a bother at all and no one would even know he was there. I once played for an MCT play with Nathan on my lap when he was just a toddler (LOL)!
Well.. I suppose that’s enough reminiscing for one night. Oh.. and many thanks to our friends, Bonnie & Jerry, for giving Nathan the above microphone for his birthday… it has echo and everything! He *LOVES* it!
