Ok. I hate to even admit these things, but in an effort to be “real” I’ll tell you what happens around here occasionally when I get TOO BUSY! But please don’t think I’m not organized because really I am.. and things always seem to work out just fine… I just temporarily misplace things occasionally.
For starters I lost my memory……. as in my memory stick… as in the new 2 gig memory stick I bought for our camera. I couldn’t find it ANYWHERE and my desk is fairly clean at the moment. I looked in the 2 drawers where we have camera “stuff” and it wasn’t in there either. I remembered being in a hurry when I filled out the rebate stuff and thought perhaps I had not taken it out of the case and maybe I tossed it in the garbage when I threw away the case. I was SICK because I don’t have extra $$ laying around to buy another. I searched high and low for it and it was NO WHERE to be found. Later that night Josh was finishing up some of his packing and wanted to load some new songs onto the memory stick for his MP3 player. So, I took it out and THERE was *my* new memory stick. We still don’t know how it ended up in his MP3 player, but I was REALLY glad to find it because that would have been a $100 mistake if I had thrown in out….
And… if that wasn’t bad enough… here’s another “memory loss” story. I had about 8 vehicle registrations to renew last month and I decided to do the YUKON while I was there so I wouldn’t have to make another trip to the court house. Well.. that was all fine until I couldn’t find the one for the YUKON. I’ve had expired plates now since the 1st of Feb, but I KNEW the tags would show up somewhere. This weekend I filed every last piece of paper, emptied every last bag of stuff that came into the house from the YUKON, etc. and still no tags. So, I started to worry just a little…. $400 mistake if I can’t find the tags. I was just about to give up and go get some new ones when I called my mom to see if I had mixed our YUKON tags up with her YUKON tags since I renewed them both at the same time. She hadn’t seen them and while I was talking on the phone with her I remembered that I had put the tags in a “safe place” and there they were right where I left them… now WHY couldn’t I have remembered that 12 days ago????
Oh.. and if all of that isn’t bad enough just wait until you hear what I did on Saturday…. I’m quite THANKFUL that no one hauled me off to jail for this one…. that would be a sorry sight and who knows what ramifications that might have caused.. I can see it now…. keyboard player at XYZ church jailed for stealing prescription drugs from Walmart… YIKES. So, this is what happened and it’s the absolute truth… me and my absent mindedness lately. I went to fill a prescription on Saturday. I was in a hurry, as is my usual state these days, and when the lady called my name I happened to be visiting with someone I bumped into (no I didn’t *really* bump into them… I just saw them… you know what I mean) so I wasn’t paying attention. The lady asked me if we had insurance or if we were paying for it yada yada yada and told me to sign the credit card thingie. So, I signed assuming that meant I was paying for it… finished visiting, took the prescription and left.. as in WALKED OUT OF THE STORE since I had nothing else to purchase and the boys were all waiting at home for us to get there to go sledding. On Sunday night while eating dinner someone from Walmart pharmacy called to say that they didn’t see the prescription as being scanned at the front checkouts and I said no I didn’t buy anything else that day and I paid for it back at the pharmacy. I went to look on the prescription sack and sure enough there wasn’t any receipt on there… sigh…. I was SO embarassed! I tried to explain what happened and thankfully the man frm the pharmacy understood. In my defense, he said it actually happens several times a week so at least I’m not the only one. I went in today to pay for it and the lady just laughed so it didn’t seem to be TOO big of a deal, but I, of course, still feel horrible about the whole incident.
Now, if someone can please remind me what type of tea you’re supposed to drink to aide in memory retention that would be great!

Very funny.
*snicker*
Well, at least I’m not the only one! Besides feeling (and acting) like my IQ has dropped 100 points, I frequently have the wrong words pop out of my mouth. I might be talking about a book or something, and I’ll call it a car. It’s bizarre! It’s like I’ve developed dysphasia or something. *sigh*
Oh, QB, if you figure out something that helps, please let me know. I was finding my memory a bit weakened before the kids came home last year…now, it is down right on it’s last leg.
My hubby bought me one of those little handheld taperecorders. It is my auxilary brain.
Are you sure it’s not stress? Those are the kinds of things I do when I am Tooooo busy!
When Jack was 3 we’d been grocery shopping and I was lifting him out of the stroller into the car seat when I noticed he was holding a HUGE block of English Cheddar cheese! He must have just grabbed it from a low shelf as I pushed him round the store.
I was *mortified*!
Dorothy
Oh, it’s Ginko Biloba, isn’t it?
Dorothy
Too funny! Glad it worked out okay. Let us know if you decide to try that tea. 🙂
Yes, it did all work out fine. The next time I’m at the tea shop I think I’ll ask them to give me a baggie of something for my brain!
I feel your pain, Jen!
Dorothy,
Stress? I don’t think so. I take a 1/2 hour nap everyday to reduce the risk of heart attack (have ya’ll seen that new report out?) so I shouldn’t be under too much stress, right?
