LIVING ROOM

I won’t take the time to repeat the entire story of how/whey we ended up with new leather living room furniture in this blog entry. If you didn’t read the Extreme Home Makeover entry from awhile ago, you can find it by clicking here. to find out how/why (LOL).

Here is a picture of our living room with the new furniture. We redecorated our living room to look “lodgey” years ago, but the only thing we were lacking was the leather furniture. Now our living room is “done.”

Here is a closeup of the love seat.

Notice how I didn’t even “pick up” the living room before taking this shot. Normally, it would have really BUGGED me to have those books lying on the floor when I’m taking a picture to post on the blog. However, there you have it. Our living room.. as is… being lived in. We like to sit on the couch or lounge around on the floor when we’re doing the “couch” portion of our school work. That is a big pile of books on Africa, geography books, an atlas of people from around the world, an animal atlas, and more.

I’m also posting a closeup picture of the detail on the couch because you’ll also see similar little tacks on the mirror we bought for the adjoining dining room. I know I’m a little quirky that way, but I like to find little detail things that tie rooms one to another.

We’ve never had leather furniture before so I don’t know which type of cleaner/enhancer to purchase. If you know where I can buy some let me know. I’m sure a furniture store would carry some, but we bought this set at Costco and they don’t sell leather care product kits.

Beautiful new furnitrue, Cynthia and it goes great with your decor. We are finishing up our family room and I’m going for a rustic look, but probably more antiquey (is that a word) than woodsy. I really like your look, but not sure it would go in our 1840s house.

Thanks Debbie! Yes, our living room is quite lodgey looking with the bear rug, horns and antlers, snake skin wall hanging, etc… Our entire house isn’t really like that though. You’ll see all of the other rooms in the house pretty soon because I’m going to keep uploading pictures of everything we’ve done in each room as I have time. We’ve literally done something to every room in the house this summer. Our dining room which is inbetween our living room and kitchen is more of a mission look. You’ll see what I mean when I post pics of the new wall sconces, chandelier, and mirror/wrought iron bench, etc… although there is one lamp that has horns on it… but the rest is definitely more mission than lodge, but it all coordinates well I think.

Debbie,
I also forgot to say that I’ve been checking your blog thinking my RSS feed wasn’t working since I haven’t seen any updates from you lately. I’ll be watching to see how you decorated your family room in a rustic decor.

Your furniture is just what I’d like in our living room. Ahhh, someday!

I probably would have had to pick up the books lol….

I did blog pictures of my kids horribly messy rooms once. But they actually looked GOOD compared to what they normally looked like. I’m not supposed to bug them about their rooms. Easy for Doug to say when he’s only here on the weekends lol……

Gorgeous furniture. We bought “rolled leather” – I think they call it – soft and more like suede than vinyl…but we can’t use the leather cleaners on them so I have not a clue what to suggest. All looks nice.

Cindy,
I don’t know how to tell you this, but…. uh…. this is the same couches that we have in OUR family room! LOLOL!!! Ours is a little bit redder than yours, but it’s exactly the same style!
Oh, and I just LOVE it!
Blessings,
Lee

Cindy – I love your furniture!! It goes perfect with the theme of the room and it is gorgeous. We have had leather off and on for the last 15 years. I have a leather cleaner but honestly I have never used it. I just use a damp cloth.

Pretty leather!

I had to laugh at your comment about not picking up. I’m trying to do that with my blog pics too–TRYING to be real, which doesn’t mean much other than not being quite so obsessive about having everything “just so.” It hasn’t happened here yet, and I know it will be just different than before!

STUDIO REDO

This room is such a mess I simply can’t deal with it any longer!  It’s not normally this disorganized, but a few months ago everything was removed from this room while I was away so I could be surprised with the flooring being finished!   YEA!  I’m SO EXCITED the …

SILVERWARE

This year I’m participating in the Declutter 365 project.  They started in the kitchen and since my kitchen is fairly new, I don’t have a whole lot of actual “decluttering” to do, but I do have a few organizational things I haven’t gotten to so I’m working on those for …
