Each time we have visited NYC, we have taken in a show on Broadway. This time we chose THE LION KING because we knew it was something we would all enjoy. Click the link to hear some select musical pieces.
As I mentioned in my post about the Minskoff Theater, the inside had been completely remodeled in preparation for hosting The Lion King. Here is one of the hand carved items they spoke of. It’s a HUGE piece which hangs above the escalators.
Speaking of the escalators, isn’t this a cute picture of the girls? They were just ahead of me on the escalator and I thought the lights above their heads looked interesting. I just love their colorful peacoats and beautiful big smiles! We’re blessed to have such wonderful kids!
Unfortunately, there aren’t any photos to be added along with this post because there’s no photography allowed inside the theater.
The show is AMAZING from the very first moment when the jungle singers are spread out throughout the theater while the large animals walk up onto the stage right down to the very last moment when all are gathered again on the stage. It’s truly a show like no other. If you ever find yourself looking for a family show on Broadway, you can’t go wrong with The Lion King! Even the most reluctant in our group came away glad they had been convinced to see a Broadway show.
Tim said whatever we wanted him to see and do in NYC we better do now because he will most likely never return. The Lion King was at the top of MY list of things for him to do while here!
