KALI RIVER RAPIDS

Vacations - 2007
11

From the Disney World website: “Raft down the turbulent waters of the Chakranadi River aboard a 12-passenger raft through an enchanting Asian rain forest. A blazing inferno rushes toward you! Escape down a rushing waterfall! Beware of gushing geysers! Get set to get wet!”

We looked at this ride while waiting for our Fast Pass to Expedition Everest. We decided we did NOT want to do it after encountering some people coming out of the ride who were COMPLETELY SOAKED! After our Expedition Everest ride, Josh decided he really wanted to do try the Kali River Rapids. So, we went over there, got in line, etc., and THEN he backed out on us. Tim was going to stay with him while the rest of us rode the ride since we were already in line. A few minutes later Tim and Josh rejoined us after Tim took him to see that it wasn’t a “wild” river. After he saw that the rafts run on rails he decided to go.
Josh and our friend Melissa had some sort of comical thing going on between them that started out with Melissa spilling a bottle of water on him in the airplane. (I think that’s how the story went anyway). So, Josh was HOPING that the girls would get wet on this ride and hoping the boys wouldn’t. It was good for him to have a few laughs about this ride since he was being challenged to do rides he didn’t really want to do.

I don’t know exactly what Melissa was saying, but I think she was inquiring why she and Emily were the ones who ended up getting soaked… I’m sure blaming it on Josh was part of the fun!Melissa and Emily were both wearing some of Amanda’s clothes since their luggage was “lost.” Later that day, my brother, Troy, went to the airport to get their luggage! At least it came before we left on the cruise. We weren’t certain how quickly it would come since we were told the airport in MINN had been closed for a time due to the snow storm that went through there. Here you can see that the girls (above) were SOAKED, while Tim (below) was just a little wet.I was glad to see there was an enclosed waterproof area in the center of the raft where we could put our bags and cameras. I sure didn’t want my camera to get wet! I didn’t take any pictures along the way on this ride (nor very many other rides for that matter). The ride was fun! I’m glad we got to do it this time around since we didn’t to it the last time we were in DW. You twist and turn along the trail and depending on where you’re sitting in the raft you may or may not get hit by one of the geysers. Toward the end of the ride you go under a bridge where onlookers can push buttons to get you even more wet. Josh was hollering at them to soak us which didn’t help (LOL). It was a nice warm day and we all dried off pretty quickly.

Cynthia, glad to have you back! I am anxiously awaiting the continued updates of your vacation. Glad you had a great time! I’m taking notes….lol

We loved this ride, but we were prepared – we all brought rain ponchos. The other riders were snickering at us, but when we came out dry and they were soaked to the skin, they weren’t snickering anymore!

Animal Kingdom is my favorite Disney park!

How fun! It looks like a great time was had by all. I’ve been checking for vacation pictures. Now I’ll go read about the rest of your trip.

Emily,
The weather was PERFECT while we were there… we did notice a week later when we were leaving after our cruise that it had cooled down considerably.

Ginger,
NO FAIR going with rain ponchos (LOL)! Part of the fun is getting wet, right??? Wet.. but not soaked.. it would NOT be fun to be soaked.

Diann,
It IS hard to take pictures while trying to enjoy the rides which is why I really didn’t take many pics this year.

Kelly,
I’m slowly, but surely getting all of my pictures organized and blogged. I will have a lot more time this coming weekend to work on them while I’m doing a project away from home… mostly just answering the phones. So.. I hope to upload as many pics as I can this week and then work on journaling them all next weekend! I just don’t want to add too many pages of blog entries all at one time or no one will have time to read it all (LOL).

LUGGAGE – DAY 62 of PROJECT 365

WHEW! This is definitely the last of our vacation pictures! The night before you arrive back in port, you leave all of your luggage out in the hallway. During the night the porters come through and deliver it *here* (LOL) and you have to dig through the piles of luggage …
