Earlier this fall I posted a note that Josh decided at the last minute to play football. We signed up the very last night of late sign ups and I think there was only one other boy that signed up after him. Nothing like waiting until the last minute (LOL)! He is playing on the C team which is JUST FINE with us. I’d rather have him be one of the bigger kids on the team than one of the smaller kids on the team. His score came within one point of having to play on the B team so we’re quite glad it worked out for him to be on C! He’s doing very well and LOVES it! Doesn’t he look all grown up above?

During the very first game he made TWO touchdowns and after that I think he was pretty well hooked on playing football. I’m guessing he’ll playing in this league for as long as he can which I think is up to 8th grade if your school doesn’t have a program. Our homeschool athletic association doesn’t have a football program. Below is a picture of his 2nd touch down. I wasn’t ready for the first one which happend less than 5 minutes into the first game (LOL). Tim always has to tell me when anything is going on… I only had a few seconds to ready the camera right before he made the touchdown! I just can’t keep track of anything in this game (LOL).

We knew some of the plays had him catching the ball.. but we weren’t quite ready for him to make a touchdown right at the start of the game! I know this will sound like bragging, but we were DEFINITELY PROUD PARENTS !!Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

It was SO cold and rainy at the first game. Ithought we were going to be in for a VERY long season, but then it turned nice again and the weather has been great (even hot a couple of times) for the rest of his games. I was taking pictures from underneath a heavy denim blanket held over the top of my head with one hand while shooting pictures with my camera in the other hand. Here is Emily spent her time in the rain.

I’m glad we were able to see his first two touchdowns in the first game. The next touch down he made was about 5 minutes after we had to leave to go play at church last weekend…. bummer!

Josh plays several positions. Here is a picture of him playing in his offensive position of Running Back. He’s #96 – the one with the ball.Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The part I don’t like about this position…. everyone is out to tackle my BABY! I’m always praying he doesn’t get hurt and again I’m thankful that he’s one of the bigger kids instead of one of the smaller ones.

His defensive position is Line Backer show below.

He is also a punter on the punt team. Waiting for the snap….

A few miscellaneous pictures.

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingLast week Josh was named one of the team captains. The coach said he picked him because of his great blocking at the previous game! GO JOSH! Here he is with the other 3 captains talking with the refs, flipping the coin, and shaking hands with the other team’s captains.Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Photobucket - Video and Image HostingThis week his team had a night game. He was really excited to get to play under the stadium lights. Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

It was a PERFECT night for watching a football game. The weather was JUST RIGHT! Not too cold. No wind. Just cool enough to need a light jacket. The smell of damp fall air. It was quite relaxing except when the game was close! They lost by only 1 touch down to the #1 or #2 team in this league. So it was a GREAT game and quite close.

It was very dark by the time the game was over. Most of his games have lasted 1.2 – 2 hours. This one lasted over 2 hours. There was a nice sunset.

I never imagined we’d be having a football player in our family.

I got a kick out of Josh playing in his “short pants” (WHATEVER they call football pants!) and short sleeves, and Emily all bundled up!

TAcking my baby – yep – that’s the thing that was hard to get used to when Jamin played his freshman year…that and how BIG those guys are. LOL

Looks like Josh is excelling – way to go Josh.

COON “HUNTIN”

Early this morning our dog went crazy with barking and howling.  After the sun rose, we found out what all the commotion had been about as he pointed us toward a coon he had treed during the night! Mid morning the boys decided they needed to take care of the …

SKYVIEW GAME

Tonight’s game against Skyview was quite intense right up until the very last second!  Each team was back and forth all night taking the lead and slipping behind by a few.  The last minute continued in this same way.  In the last 8 seconds we were behind by 1 point …
