They would get all dressed up with those fancy matching square dance outfits and go out dancing. I never learned how to square dance, but this year I gave it a try….all of us, Tim, the kids, and I.

The choir Emily sang in hosted a hoe down after the concert. Everyone was invited to stay. Here is Emily square dancing.

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingHere’s Josh! I’m quite surprised at how much he enjoys dancing. We had a few ballroom dancing sessions at co-op and he was also seen enjoying them!

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingI danced with my dad a few times. I’m in the blue jacket with my back to the camera.

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingI was always mixed up… left, right, front, back… it all happens SO FAST (LOL)! My dad was always having to tell me which way to go.

It took some convincing to get them out there, but I think they really enjoyed it.

Another of Amanda’s good friends also came. Jean is in the middle. She is the one who had the graduation party with Amanda. This hoe down was just a few weeks after graduation.

We had a LOT of fun. Hopefully we can try this again sometime. The caller was GREAT to work with. He knew we were mostly beginners so he gave us a few lessons before we tried out each new thing up to tempo with the music.

It really was a LOT of fun. It was definitely a family friendly evening!

This looks fun! We’ve been to lots of Ceilidh’s where the dances are very similar.

What fun! I can remembering going to a few square dances in college. I see them advertised occasionally here in our little want ad paper.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. It was a LOT of fun and I’m always amazed to find something new that I enjoy.

I LOVE to square dance. . .now in saying that I have to admit I haven’t done it since grade school but it was always something I looked forward too . . what fun!

SEQUENCE

Nathan, Tim, and I played a lively game of Sequence this evening.  I should have won the first round, but SOMEONE had to open up their mouth and let on to someone else my strategy which was to win 2 sequences with one last chip!  That play fell through and …
