My parents, shown above, used to always go square dancing. I remember my brother and I tagging along to watch. They would get all dressed up with those fancy matching square dance outfits and go out dancing. I never learned how to square dance, but this year I gave it a try….all of us, Tim, the kids, and I.
The choir Emily sang in hosted a hoe down after the concert. Everyone was invited to stay. Here is Emily square dancing.
Amanda and her friend, Libby, also came! They even dressed up for the occasion – notice the cowboy hats.
Here’s Josh! I’m quite surprised at how much he enjoys dancing. We had a few ballroom dancing sessions at co-op and he was also seen enjoying them!
I danced with my dad a few times. I’m in the blue jacket with my back to the camera.
I was always mixed up… left, right, front, back… it all happens SO FAST (LOL)! My dad was always having to tell me which way to go.
and he likes twirling you around which made me dizzy. Looks like my mom did just fine with all of the twirling around.
It took some convincing to get them out there, but I think they really enjoyed it.
Another of Amanda’s good friends also came. Jean is in the middle. She is the one who had the graduation party with Amanda. This hoe down was just a few weeks after graduation.
We even got Tim out on the dance floor! Here he’s doe ce doeing Amanda. I have NO idea how to spell that.
We had a LOT of fun. Hopefully we can try this again sometime. The caller was GREAT to work with. He knew we were mostly beginners so he gave us a few lessons before we tried out each new thing up to tempo with the music.
It really was a LOT of fun. It was definitely a family friendly evening!
