GRANDPARENTS

Vacations - 2009

DeEtta recognized a few extended family members in some of the pictures and she asked who all came on vacation with us. The short list of who is here with us is my parents, my brother, and the “L” family – homeschooling friends of ours from home.

Grma & Grpa C are known to Tater as the Grandma & Grandpa who play with the trains (LOL). We keep trying to get him to call them by Grandma Jan and Grandpa Jim, but he prefers Grandma who plays with trains (or not) and Grandpa who plays with trains (or not). – LOL….

They don’t enjoy water sports as much as we do, but they are good sports about going along and hanging out with us on vacation. Above, they are enjoying a stroll along the beach.

One night they went to the South Pacific musical which they said was good. They thought it would be nice to see it here on the island where it was filmed.

Before we left home, my mom ran into some friends of ours and found out they were going to be on this same island for some of the time we are here. We met them for dinner one night and had an enjoyable time catching up with them. They are associate pastors at one of the larger churches in our home town area (perhaps the largest one). It was fun to hear what all they’re doing in their various areas of ministry. She is in charge of security as well as other things and he’s in charge of lots of areas. It was too dark to get a good picture of them.

My dad likes to stick close to the shade so above he’s watching the kids swim from shore underneath the shade of a palm tree! He’s been having fun with the boys watching whales from their condo’s patio. Photobucket

Their condo is more suited to cooking than ours so the girls head over to help Grandma cook. We like to give my mom a bad time about all of her kitchen gadgets some of which she even brought along on vacation. So, here she and Amanda are having a discussion about that (LOL)! It was quite funny.

Too funny about your mom packing cooking utensils. That’s part of the beauty of packing for a warm location, you don’t need as many bulky clothes in your suitcase!

I’m with your mom on the utensils. ::snort:: I’ve been known to do the same.

How precious to have your family together….I love it. Tell your Mom and Dad thanks for making a blog appearance. LOL It’s always fun to see your family again. Those days seem soooo long ago…. I keep wondering what the chances would be of an assignment at Great Falls again – but I know the people would all be different. LOL

MUSEE RODIN

One of the many things on my Paris “hope to see” list was the Musee Rodin.  Because we had a mile-long list of things to see today and because I was the only one with this on their must-see list, we opted to make this a very quick stop (as in probably only …

BIKING THROUGH PARIS

If I don’t already sound like a broken record when I say I researched all of the xyz options for abc before we booked our trip (or chose this crockpot or picked that curriculum, etc), just stick around awhile and I’m sure you’ll eventually come to that conclusion (LOL) since …

A.M. VISIT TO EIFFEL TOWER

I’m sure everyone would have preferred to sleep in a little longer today (9/26), but again, trying to avoid jet lag I scheduled us to be up and out of the hotel by 7:00 a.m. I actually wanted to leave at 6:30 but Michaela thought that was way too early …
