GO FLY A KITE

We have had this 4 foot monoplane kite in the garage for a LONG time. I actually think one of our friends gave it to Tim for his birthday several years ago. Today, it was windy. Josh was bored. Amanda was getting ready for the Prom. Em and I were helping Amanda here and there. So, Josh decided to get it out and give it a try… my dates are mixed up. This was actually 3/17.

First, he had to read all of the directions. Then he had to find all of the parts and get it assembled.

Nathan helped a “little.” (LOL).

All finished and ready for a trial run.

He decided to give it a try in the backyard. There were too many trees. He moved to the front yard, but we have a low hanging overhead powerline that kept me worrying whenever he got too close… so after this series of acrobatic maneuvers I had him take it to the field across the road…. see picture of the day for Project 365 above.

You can’t really tell from these pictures, but it was REALLY REALLY windy…..here the plane looks so easy to control, but actually it was being whipped around pretty good.

I thought this was pretty high up for the first time Josh has ever flown a kite.

UP UP UP and AWAY!

He was really getting the hang of weaving it back and forth across the yard. The kite came with instructions for some acrobatic tricks, too.

GOOD RECOVERY! I thought it was going to nose dive on that one… but he was able to keep it off the ground.

Here he’s bringing it in for the landing.

Safely on the ground!

Here are some interesting kite facts:

*Kites made their appearance over 2,500 years ago in China
*In 1752 Benjamin Franklin used a kite in a storm to prove that lightning was a form of electricity.
*Years of kite flying led to the Wright Brothers’ invention of the airplane

Good for Josh! Trevor was just asking this a.m. about a kite, and I’m pretty sure Robert threw all of ours away with the upcoming move.

For being busy with Amanda, you sure took a lot of pics of Josh, lol!

COON “HUNTIN”

Early this morning our dog went crazy with barking and howling.  After the sun rose, we found out what all the commotion had been about as he pointed us toward a coon he had treed during the night! Mid morning the boys decided they needed to take care of the …

This room is such a mess I simply can’t deal with it any longer!  It’s not normally this disorganized, but a few months ago everything was removed from this room while I was away so I could be surprised with the flooring being finished!   YEA!  I’m SO EXCITED the …
