On October 12 during one of our away games, Josh scored a hat trick!!!! This was an incredible game where everything worked right both offensively and defensively. In fact, not only did Josh score a hat trick, he nailed a “FLAWLESS HAT TRICK” within the first few minutes of the first half. A “flawless hat trick” is where a player scores three goals in succession during the same period with no other goals from either team being scored in between. The above photo wasn’t taken during this particular game, but I like it because Josh is smiling :).
It was a VERY CHILLY morning. For those who aren’t from these parts, the white on the ground is frost not snow! It was so cold you could see the boys’ breath! There were less than a handful of parents brave enough to stand outside for this particular early morning game and I wasn’t one of them! So, I’m grateful for our athletic director who braved the elements and snapped these great shots :).
Here is the progression of one of Josh’s three hat trick goals:
Most of you probably know it takes a LOT of team work to score a single goal in soccer! Imagine the rarity for someone to have the opportunity to score a hat trick, let alone a flawless one at that! Here’s another series of shots from one of Josh’s hat trick goals.
Of course, this means Josh now has a great big mark on his back and the opposing team has their defense all over him now.
Precision passes and amazing assists from the other offensive players coupled with Josh’s exceptional intuitiveness on this particular day made a flawless hat trick possible for him.
Josh went on to score another point or two in the second half of the same game. This weekend’s games were monumental for not only Josh’s soccer team, but also for our girls’ volleyball team as both of them cinched the Eastern Conference Championship titles!
Our soccer team earned a BYE at State which will be a great start to the tournament to be held in a few weeks (actually because I’m so far behind in blogging, the State Championship game is about to start in a half hour and I’m passing the tense-filled time away by blogging!)
