I loved The Festival of the Lion King. It was very well done. I agree that everything Disney does is done very well – and they are great about having something for everyone. Loved the flashback pictures of baby Nathan. And how fun for him to go down and participate.
THE FESTIVAL OF THE LION KING

When we were in Disney World in 2004, we liked The Festival of the Lion King show SO much we took the time to see it twice. These blog pictures just don’t do it justice. You can see a sample of the show by clicking here. At least you can see the movement and hear the music which really makes the show. We’ve seen the Lion King on Broadway and I really think I liked the Disneyworld show just as much!
This year only Grandma, Grandpa, and Nathan went to the show. They went while the rest of us were riding the Expedition Everest ride. After we met back up with them, we found out that one of the performers came over to where they were sitting and asked Nathan to join them for the parade of characters. I’m not surprised he went since he is quite social, but it was a little out of his element. With all of the painted faces, costumes, large animals, and noise I wouldn’t think he’d want to go, but he did and grandma was able to catch a few pictures of Nathan as he paraded around with the man on stilts seen in this picture. He went all around the theater with him!

From the Disney World website: “Plunge right into the middle of the action in this cleverly staged in-the-round production featuring songs from the film and a cast of familiar faces, including Simba, Timon and Pumbaa. Combining the pageantry of a parade with all the excitement of a tribal celebration, this is a lavish, high energy spectacle created through song, dance and specialty performances. “
Here are some pictures from the Festival of the Lion King show… this year and 2004 pictures.

Again, my pictures just don’t do this show justice. It’s been 3 years since I actually saw the show and I can still recall all of the vivid colors and energetic music. I think it was an hour long. I remember telling someone after we came back the first time that the price of a one day ticket to DW is worth it for all that you get in addition to this one show! IOW, if all you saw was the show you would still have gotten a lot for your $$….. and to think you can see a spectacular show like this AND rides the attractions and see an amazing zoo all in one place.

I wouldn’t necessarily call myself a big DISNEY “fan”, but they sure do know how to run a quality theme park with something for EVERYONE!
