THE COUNTDOWN

We leave for Europe in 48 hours which means the next two days will be quite crazy. Here’s my short list just to give you an idea:
1. Pay our bills
2. Talk with a local person at the bank who will be manually checking our credit card for me everyday so we don’t run into problems with it like we did the last time.
3. Move some $$ around so Tim won’t have to deal with transfers while I’m gone.
4. Recalculate the euros and pounds we’re taking – anaylizing the benefit/risk/cost ratios to determine how much to really take and what to leave for the credit or debit card.
5. Finish our itinerary.
6. Reconfirm London and Italy motel reservations and the apartment in Germany.
7. Gather all of our e-tickets for the train and airplane and put them in chronological order – during trip planning I keep everything by categories – accomodations, travel, and excursions.
But, now that we’re ready to leave I need them in chrono order.
8. Look at other cameras in town today to decide if I want to keep the one I bought the other day or get another one. I’m hoping to find a different one which will use the same batteries as my small camera. For those who care to know. I decided I’m not taking the Rebel. It’s too big. I’m not taking the Cybershot, it’s too small. So, I’m on the hunt for one just the right size!
9. Pay my aunt’s life insurance which comes due while we’re gone – just talked to my mom and she’ll do that errand for me.
10. Return some books at one bookstore and buy a book at another bookstore.
11. Get some co-op things ready to pass off to someone else to take care of while I’m gone.
12. Get Josh and Nathan’s school work lined out for while I’m gone.
13. Do a couple of Skype tests with Josh and Tim to be sure they know what to do.
14. Clean the living room closet – ok so that’s not really on my list but you all know I’ll get sidetracked and tear into it! I always do. It’s an illness.
15. Try to remember the password for my debit card. I should take it to town and give it a try today.
16. Plant a plant I’ve been trying to get planted for a couple of weeks now.
17. Pick a copule of books to take along to read.
18. I would say pack, but that honestly won’t happen until tomorrow at the earliest. In fact, I may not even pack until Thursday morning.
19. Take the internet box thing to the phone company for diagnostic testing. It’s been acting funny and I don’t want the boys to have trouble with it while I’m gone or we won’t be able to stay in touch. Hmmmm…. maybe they’re the ones messing with it (LOL).
20. Gather the battery charges, convertors, cords, cables, etc., so I don’t have to rush trying to find them all tomorrow.

Chances are your debit card will NOT work in Europe… at least mine didn't and it was affiliated with a large US bank.
You are best off with cash or a credit card (not Discover). More places in Europe these days do take credit cards.
Be sure to exchange your Euros back to $$ before you return home… banks in the US usually won't take back any coins
How exciting! I'm sure you will have a fabulous time and I can't wait to see all the photos!
