COMFORT INN – TIMES SQUARE

I searched and searched for the best deal in NYC and finally decided on the Comfort Inn 2 blocks off from Times Square which ended up being a very good choice. The next time we find ourselves in NYC I will definitely be checking out the reviews for this hotel first and if they are still good, I’ll not spendy any more time searching.
HOTEL: Somewhere I read the hotel was either new or newly remodeled which seemed too good to be true so we were pleasantly surprised to find this hotel really was in very good condition. It was clean and well kempt with the rooms being fairly spacious for a NYC location. The bathrooms were new and, again, very clean! Considering the price and location, I was very surprised at the nice conditions of this hotel.
FOOD: We were greeted with warm, fresh cookies upon check-in which was a big hit especially with the boys because we hadn’t had time for dinner yet and this held them over just a little while longer. They offered a continental breakfast which was more than the regular cold cereal and doughnuts offered at most hotels of this price range. This Comfort Inn offered something warm each day. One day we had sausage and scrambled eggs. Another day, it was bacon and eggs. In addition, they had yogurt, fruit, a nice variety of cereals, juice, muffins, and more.
LOCATION: As with buying a house, we have found the term “location, location, location” to be a good rule of thumb to follow when choosing a hotel as well. It was close to everything we needed. After leaving the hotel, turn left and walk one block to the subway which will connect to anywhere you need to go. Continue walking another block and you’ll be at Times Square where you can find food ranging from street vendors to expensive restaurants. There you’ll find all kinds of tour groups, 1/2 price night show tickets, shopping, and anything else you might be looking for. The theater where we attend The Lion King was in the block between the subway and Times Square with other Broadway theaters being within walking distance as well.
The last time we came to NYC, we stayed at the Hotel Edison which is only a half block off from Times Square, but it is twice the price of the Comfort Inn. For this trip, I searched not only hotels in the Times Square district, but also ones further away in midtown and other areas of Manhattan. They were just as expensive or more expensive than the Comfort Inn Times Square so we decided to stay in the Times Square aera for the convenience of being close to everything. For my observant blog readers, it’s worth noting that while we usually stay in VRBO’s as much as possible to save $$, you do not want to stay in a VRBO in NYC. Check out the Trip Advisor website for all the reasons why not.
