CHRISTMAS IN SEPTEMBER

We’re home from our quick trip to Calgary where we picked up Michaela and visited Glacier National Park while we were in the area.

First thing upon arrival, we walked all around the oustide looking at all that has changed and what has stayed the same since she was here seven years ago. Then we moved inside where almost every room has changed since she was here. Seven years ago we were just moving into our library and she helped with the flooring, painting, etc. NOW, it’s completely full and well used (LOL). My scrapbooking room didn’t have a single thing in it when she was here because it wasn’t finished and now it’s overflowing. I told her she can help me clear it out while she’s here (LOL). All of the changes met with her approval.

Here are a few pictures upon our arrival home. You would have though it was Christmas time by the looks of things around here as Michaela brought gifts for everyone.

From the picture above, can you tell what Emily’s gift was? Some very cute earrings from an artist local to Michaela’s home town. Evidently, the lady gives lessons which Michaela wanted to take but didn’t have time so she bought them. They’re REALLY CUTE!

She brought Josh and Nathan some German style earth moving equipment which they of course really enjoyed.

Tim received a hat from the soccer team local to Michaela’s home town.

She also brought a family gift which is a board game of places around Europe. We’ll have to be sure to play it many times while she’s here since it’s all in German. We’ll need her to interpret the cards for us and maybe we can even get her to write them on another card or something.

You can tell by the smiles all around that everyone is excited to be home and to have Michaela with us!

Nathan is especially excited because he is very much a people person and she’s willing to sit and play with him for long lengths of time when the rest of us are busy with school and such. I can already tell that he is really going to have a difficult time when she leaves in two weeks. It will be difficult not only because she is leaving, but also because Em and I will be leaving as well. He was only two weeks old when she left our home to go back to her home in Germany, but Nathan insists he remembers her – probably from all of the pictures.

PhotobucketA German note from Michaela to her friends and family: Mein erster Abend im Haus meiner Gastfamilie nach sechs Jahren. Sie haben viel renoviert aber im Grunde hat sich nichts veraendert. Ich habe ein paar Geschenke aus Deutschland mitgebracht. Wie man auf den Fotos sehen kann, haben sich alle sehr gefreut.

What a blessing to be visited by such a special friend!

And I can't BELIEVE how much Josh has grown, I don't think you've posted many pics lately of him standing up!! Wow!

SEQUENCE

Nathan, Tim, and I played a lively game of Sequence this evening.  I should have won the first round, but SOMEONE had to open up their mouth and let on to someone else my strategy which was to win 2 sequences with one last chip!  That play fell through and …
