Disclaimer: I personally know NOTHING about COTN, however, one of my internet and blogosphere friends, Lisa, has a son who went to Sierra Leone this summer on a missions trip through Children of the Nations (COTN). She gave me the website for COTN and pointed me in the direction of the You Tube video you see listed in this entry and the one above.
After watching the following You Tube video and reading A Long Way Gone, I know understand how important it was for UNICEF to try to find any distant relative of Ishmeal Beah’s no matter how distant. Hearing what happened to the boy shown in this video who lost his parents and had to live with an uncle makes one think about what would have really happened to Ishmael had UNICEF not gone to great lengths to find the distant uncle Ishmael had never met and had only heard mentioned a few times by his father. He didn’t even know his uncle’s name. Here is a You Tube video that shows COTN’s work in Malawi.
Here is the link for Lisa’s blog where you can read more information about her son’s missions trip. Click on the COTN link in the right hand sidebar of her blog. I’m anxiously waiting for her son to post about his mission trip to Sierra Leone. I’m thinking our family may want to go on a mission trip instead of a vacation!

What an awesome video. The story of the sister feeding who little brother who was tied up to a tree by his uncle was just incredible! What a great thign COTN is doing!
