Just a little over a year ago, Emily started orthodontic treatment at the office where Amanda works. Here she is at the start of that appointment back in May of 2007.
She looks a little apprehensive above, doesn’t she? Emily doesn’t really like change and she didn’t think she needed braces in the first place so she was less than thrilled. Poor thing.

Her teeth really weren’t that bad, but her bite was off and the roof of her mouth needed to be expanded. Amanda promised to be gentle with her.

After Amanda was finished putting Em’s braces on, we left her office and went for lunch.
After we got home, Emily stopped by each of the grandparents’ houses to show them her mouth full of braces.
Fast forward about 16 months and she was DONE! WOW. That went really fast. I was in braces for 3 years and Amanda was in braces for a little over 2 years. I was expecting about the same amount of time for Emily. She was SO EXCITED to have finished up ahead of schedule.
This time Emily wasn’t as apprehensive as she was in the first photo. This time she looks pretty excited.
Amanda again promised to be gentle! Here she is looking things over before she starts loosening and snapping everything off.

WHEW! They’re all off and she’s looking up at us (the boys were there, too) to see what our initial reaction is.

Look at those teeth! Aren’t they pretty?
