BLOOD TYPING

Amanda really likes biology. However, she doesn’t really like a lot of the experiments. She didn’t like dissecting the eyeball. Today she had to test her blood type and she wasn’t thrilled with having to poke her finger hard enough to bleed. She wanted me to do it and, of course, I said NO! Nathan watched for a few minutes and then he said he thought he better leave (LOL). She did allow me take a few pictures and said I could load them on the blog. So, here we go.

Reading the directions…

Gathering the supplies….
Preparing the solution…

Opening the needle… she’s already starting to get worried….

The needle….

cleaning her finger with alcohol….

Not exactly sure where to poke….. guitar playing calluses might cause a problem (LOL). I told her to poke harder.

OUCH!!! She drew blood that time….

it’s not much blood, but it’s as much as we’re going to get since she will NOT be poking her finger again (LOL)…

mixing….
comparing….
if everything is accurate it looks like this is her type….

Next week she’s supposed to dissect a cow’s heart. I have to remember to call the butcher on Monday!

See how great blogging and homeschooling go together!! Amanda does the science and you do the blogging. We get to benefit from the combo and follow along. What science is she using this year? What a great project! I loved the pictures.

Kathy,

Homeschooling and blogging go together VERY WELL! Wish I would have started blogging years ago.. of course, first things first. I really COULD NOT blog until I had a faster internet connection which only happened mid year last year.

Thanks for stopping by!

I had to chuckle during this blog. The “needles” are very familiar to me as I’m a diabetic & I have to do this up to 5 times a day. Although, I’d rather prick my finger than give myself a shot! I use an insulin pump now so I don’t have to do daily shots (4-5 times a day). Now I do one every 3-4 days instead.
