NO MORE 3×5’s

I don’t normally post YOU TUBE videos, but I have to share this one because the girls keep telling me I take WAY TOO MANY PICTURES. One of them (I’ll leave which one a secret – lol) has been suggesting I listen to this John Mayer song for quite awhile stating that she doesn’t need/want to take very many pictures because she wants to live in the moment and experience life with both eyes! And. She suggested I give “no pictures” a try. Last week when the kids and I were headed up to our job site I asked Emily to grab the camera and take a picture of something. That’s when she remembered that I still haven’t listened to this song. Instead of grabbing the camera (LOL) she plugged in her iPod and played it. Here are the lyrics if you want to read them while listening to the music video above. For those who aren’t familiar with using You Tube – to start the song click the arrow in the bottom left hand corner of the music video square.

3X5 Lyrics

I’m writing you to
catch you up on places I’ve been
You held this letter
probably got excited, but there’s nothing else inside it

didn’t have a camera by my side this time
hoping I would see the world with both my eyes
maybe I will tell you all about it when I’m
in the mood to lose my way with words

Today skies are painted colors of a cowboy’s cliche’
And strange how clouds that look like mountains in the sky
are next to mountains anyway

Didn’t have a camera by my side this time
Hoping I would see the world with both my eyes
Maybe I will tell you all about it when I’m in the mood to lose my way
but let me say

You should have seen that sunrise with your own eyes
it brought me back to life
You’ll be with me next time I go outside
just no more 3×5’s

Guess you had to be there
Guess you had to be with me

Today I finally overcame
tryin’ to fit the world inside a picture frame
Maybe I will tell you all about it when I’m in the mood to
lose my way but let me say

You should have seen that sunrise with your own eyes
it brought me back to life
You’ll be with me next time I go outside
no more 3×5’s
just no more 3×5’s

So. No time for pictures today. Today we have WORK to do (LOL)! But, I do have a lot of pictures and blog entries I’m trying to get uploaded from May through July before August hits. I haven’t quit taking pictures but I do have to admit that sometimes it nice to “forget” the camera at home!

Good song. I love pictures for my own personal memories, but how many times do I tell people that they had to be there.

Interesting song, Cynthia. Are the girls trying to send you a (not so subtle)message? Don’t they realize how much fun it is to take pictures?

Do they feel your picture taking is excessive? Does it bother them? Curious.

Hard to find a balance at times. 🙂

EARLY MORNING VIEW

I love that the days are getting longer!   There was a beautiful view of the moon early this morning which reminded me of this song by Steven Curtis Chapman.   …”Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee…   Holy. Holy, holy…”

TICKLER FILES

I have always used a Tickler Filing system for bill paying and other things which have dated deadlines.  I have 6 such red files which are numbered with the dates as follows:  1-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20, 21-25, and 26-31.  I don’t have enough dated deadlines to warrant a file for …

BUCKET ORGANIZER

This metal bucket with dividers is one of my most favorite office organizing tools!!  In fact, I would venture say it’s one of a dozen things I would consider “office essentials.”  It has six areas for keeping a variety of office essentials neatly organized! This is what I keep in …
