Just popping in to say hello! We are getting ready to head to Cincinnati on Monday morning. My blog time will be diminished greatly while I am gone. I am going to try to update my blog while I am gone if I have time. I like doing it daily. Talk to you soon!
Lee (The HomeScholar) loaned me this book to read. It’s not one I would have picked up on my own since I wouldn’t have searched for anything like this book. However, I’m glad I read it because it did make me think about things such as genetic matching which I probably wouldn’t have thought much about otherwise. Lee, THANKS for letting me borrow the book. You’ll be happy to know that it’s packaged up and ready to be sent on its way back to you!
One thing I really liked about this book that had NOTHING to do with the story is that the author used a different font for each character and each chapter was told from a different person’s perspective! I’m a visual person so that was a GREAT plus for me (LOL). Be forewarned that there were several “yuck” words that the author could have done without.
This is the story of two sisters, Anna and Kate. One has cancer and the other is a perfect donor match. From cord blood to bone marrow, Anna has donated everything the doctors suggested would cure or extend the life of her sister, Kate. However when the doctors ask for one of her kidneys, she decides that enough is enough and seeks medical emancipation from her parents. Did someone convince her to do this or is it entirely her decision? What does her brother feel about being in the shadows of his sisters? Why do the doctors and ethics review committees not view Anna as a “patient”” There are several peripheral storylines in this book and there is a SHOCKING ending……… DO NOT read ahead!!!
