FOREIGN ANIMAL EXCHANGE

I don’t know if that’s a good title or not. Is there such thing as a foreign animal exchange? This is a domestic animal so I suppose I shouldn’t say “foreign” animal (LOL). Anyway…

Jodi at Learning All The Time has sent our family a raccoon. Not a real one. A stuffed one. Its name is Sam and he’ll be staying with us for a little over a month. Awhile ago I mentioned to her that we were going to take a bike ride through Yellowstone Park sometime this summer and she said she has a stuffed animal that would like to tag along. We’ll also take it scuba diving with us in September. Ok.. now all of my real life friends will REALLY think I’ve fallen off the deep end this time or that I’ve fallen and severely bumped my head. I’ve done neither. But, I will admit to being a little crazy some of the time.

Just incase you think I’m a little on the weird side, please allow me to say in my defense that I am not the ONLY one who has participated in such an exchange. Dorothy at Romany You Did What hosted Betty Puddles awhile back. That exchange really was a “foreign” exchange since Dorothy lives in England. Debbie from Another Nature Walk has also hosted one of Jodi’s exchange animals. Actually, Debbie’s husband is the one who has taken their animal, Blackie, on exciting escapades all over the place…. Greenland or Iceland as I recall.

So. There’s the introduction so you won’t wonder what’s up when you start to see blog entries from Sam, the Rambling Raccoon.

Hey, I’m really glad you are up for this!

Are you going to take on Sam’s persona, like I did Betty’s? It’s kind of weird, but very funny.

We kept bumping in to people who’d say things like, ‘Travelling Animal, huh?’ when we’d hold Betty up in front of Big Ben etc. So, I guess people are used to it.

One time, an actress playing one of Henry 8th’s wives at Hampton Court said to my husband, ‘Is that a duck in your pocket, Sir, or are you just pleased to see me?’ I was kind of shocked but also in stitches.

Feel free not to publish this comment! {g}

I love reading about where Jodi’s animals go….I’ve thought of doing something similar but then I remember my Flat Stanleys that went out and never returned…of course now with BLOGS…this may work better…..hmmmm….. something to think about.

Dorothy,
Yes. I plan to give Sam, the Rambling Raccoon, a voice. Rambling because I tend to ramble on and on about things and ramble because he is a traveler (LOL).

DeEtta,

I thought this would be a LOT of fun. I KNOW it will take some work to keep up the blogging end of this exchange, but I also thought it would add some fun to my blog since I’m normally “just the facts” type of blogger. I had a LOT of fun with the garbage can entry a long time ago where I gave the garbage can a voice and so I thought I’d like to try this again… besides it will give me a chance to share some “inside” stories without ME having to admit anything (LOL)! I actually plan to have a back and forth blog conversation….. the Rambling Raccoon’s version of something countered with MY defensive explanation (LOL).

he he, well I fell and bumped my head so you don’t go doing that too!

We have enjoyed all you’ve written so far, all the kid are enjoying this project but my dd in particular. She enjoyed your writing style on the other posts and was LOL at several things.
