TIRE CHANGING – DAY 155 of P365

We ordered new tires for our four-wheeler since they were worn out and one of them kept going flat. Tim had told Josh that he could change them if he wanted to give it a try. Of course, Josh LOVES to have a “meaningful task” and couldn’t wait to do this all by himself! He made sure we went to town the day the new tires were supposed to be ready *AND* he even watned to go with me to town to pick them. up.
At the tire shop, he talked to the repairman asking them to show him which way the tread was supposed to run and double checking the tread was going the right way for the left/right tires. Everything looked good and Josh couldn’t WAIT to get home to put them back on. He had helped Tim take them off so he knew just what to do. I had to go out and get some pictures for the blog (that’s a good excuse when you don’t want young men to think their mom is coming out to “supervise” what they’re doing.. I really wouldn’t have a clue if he was doing it right or not, but at least I can be sure he’s doing it safely.!)
Nathan, of course, has to be right in on the action now that he’s a BIG BOY! He’s quickly becoming Josh’s assistant and it’s fun to watch Josh training Nathan how to do various things. Nathan’s, who looks MUCH older than 4 when he’s “working”, job was to roll all of the tires into place. HOW in the world did he know that the bigger ones go in back and the smaller ones go in front? I didn’t even know that. Do boys just “know” these things or what?

Josh started to bolt them on ……..
when he realized that the four wheeler needed to be lifted up a little more before he could put the tires on… so…… I can’t even believe what he did next… but I watched and he was very safe about everything. I just don’t know how he grew up so fast! I’m continually amazed at all he knows how to do!
LOL.. he did what anyone would do, I suppose. He went and got the tractor from the back of our property.

hooked the chain….. he really had to work hard to pull himself up onto the bucket in this photo.
