What a GREAT shot, Cynthia!!! That should be framed!
Some of you know that I’ve been taking a photography class. Well… I cancelled the next 2 classes and got a refund because the class was way over my head. I decided that I really just need to spend some time taking intentional pictures and perhaps things may start to click one of these days. This afternoon I was reading a new book that my friend, Lisa, and I just ordered called Photography for Scrapbookers (I’ll blog about that another day). I randomly picked a section to glance through – landscape section which was talking about lines and the rule of thirds, both of which I’ve read about before in other books. Tonight when I looked out the window at a storm passing through in the hills out north, I grabbed the camera and decided this was as good a time as any to take a few intentional pictures.I think I may have learned a few things from the photography class now that I think about it (most of it was way over my head though). One of them is how to “zero out.” What would say you zeroed out? I have no idea. This is the *first* time I have tried to manual meter anything. I manually did all of the settings for the above photo. I wish I would have thought to quickly take a picture in the automatic mode so I could compare them since our instructor said you should *never* use the automatic mode and previously I always used the automatic mode for everything. Perhaps tomorrow night there will be another storm and I can try a similar shot again, but shoot in automatic and manual.Does anyone have any constructive criticism for this photo? Please share if you do!
