Cleaning the oven doors has been on my to-do list for quite some time! Over the weekend, I searched Pinterest and other kitchen cleaning sites to try to find the best way to clean the film off from the inside of the glass.
Ordinarily, this film would probably disappear during the self-cleaning cycle, but I’m not able to use the self-cleaning part of the ovens due to a problem we have with the bottoms of the ovens. Back when we first installed these ovens, we lined the bottom with foil just like we used to do with our previous oven. Unfortunately, for some reason you’re not supposed to use foil in this oven and so some foil is now permanently adhered to the bottom of the oven!! Using the self-cleaning cycle at such hot temperatures could further damage the bottoms so I just don’t use the self-cleaner. It’s fine. I didn’t use the self-cleaner on our last oven either.
I made a baking soda paste to spread all over the glass which you could tell was really picking up the residue by how brown it turned. Next, was a few minutes soak of white vinegar on the glass. We also took apart the front of the door so I could clean between the glass.
It look 10 times better, but I still want to go back over both interior glass are with a razor blade to get some of the more difficult spots up!
