UPGROUND

Earlier this summer we purchased a small, 18′, above ground pool from Costco. This is a trial run to see if we can really keep up a pool during our already busy summer months. So far so good. We are considering putting an inground pool in this fall or next spring. Nathan has heard us talking about an inground pool for quite awhile so in his little 5 year old mind the following made sense to him (LOL).

KID QUOTE:
Are we gonna put uz upground in today? – Nathan

He always says “uz” instead of “us”. One of these days I’ll have to start correcting a few of his incorrect pronunciations, but for now it’s so CUTE to hear how he says some of his words. Here he’s helping set out all of the pipes for the railing.

It was REALLY HOT outside the day we put it up.Photobucket - Video and Image HostingJosh worked on putting the ladder together.Photobucket - Video and Image HostingThe kids got inside to help straighten out the wrinkles before we started filling it with water and until there was an inch or so of water all around.PhotobucketPhotobucket - Video and Image HostingThe well water was FREEZING so they didn’t want to stay in very long after it started to fill up. Photobucket - Video and Image HostingWe couldn’t find a solar blanket to help heat the water and we sure didn’t want to spend the extra $$ for a heater if we really are going to end up installing an inground so they waited a few days and then it was warm enough for swimming! Initially Nathan was pretty cautious and knew he wasn’t supposed to get anywhere near the ladder without his life jacket on. Now he has had taken off and is swimming just great, but I’ll save that story for another post.Photobucket - Video and Image HostingIt’s been 90-100 for the last few weeks so the pool has gotten a lot of use!Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

We had our “other” girls over for a few days a couple of weeks ago – for those who haven’t been reading the blog very long they are our friends’ daughters who remind us a lot of our 2 girls when they were their ages. We took them out swimming a few times.

Looking at this picture it seems like they should just fit right in or maybe it looks like we should have a couple more kiddos ourselves! The only person missing is our oldest dd and she should have fit right into the spot to the left of Emily, don’t you think?

I keep thinking if we have a couple more kids they would keep us young longer. So far Tim isn’t buying into that logic.

I know just how you feel about correcting their pronunciation, Cynthia. I just can’t bring myself to do this with Carys. She is my LAST baby. She’ll be talking perfectly correctly before I can blink!

Looks like you’re enjoying your pool. It does indeed look like your oldest dd would fit right into that spot in the group picture.

Looks like you are really enjoying your pool!

Well, you know how I feel about adding kids! LOL They sure have kept us young.

Cute post! I love the pic of Em in the pool with the phone!

You know, I was just thinking how old Nathan’s looking. Maybe it IS time for you to have one more baby!

LITTLE BITES OF HAPPINESS

Nathan’s friend, Noah, came over to hang out today and enjoy one last day of Christmas break before school resumes for both of them tomorrow. On the way home from picking him up at “the bridge,” I asked if the boys wanted some oatmeal for breakfast, but no. They wanted …

COON “HUNTIN”

Early this morning our dog went crazy with barking and howling.  After the sun rose, we found out what all the commotion had been about as he pointed us toward a coon he had treed during the night! Mid morning the boys decided they needed to take care of the …

DUCK PREP

I’m not sure what’s going on with these duck feathers on my dining room table, but the placemat has been moved over to make room for them! And the Egg Nog has been pushed aside to make room for marinating the duck meat!!    I’m not much for animals, dead …
