MOWING

One day this summer Josh asked if it was ok for him to “go out and mow.” Of course, I said YES! I was sort of wondering why he thought he needed to ask or why it wouldn’t be ok for him to go mow because it’s his JOB around here to mow the lawn. Next time I’ll know to ask questions because after awhile I realized that I wasn’t hearing the lawn mower. I wasn’t too worried because he probably had to do something to it before mowing – fix a tire, gas it up, etc. Then after a little while longer I realized that I was hearing the tractor. That’s also not uncommon since sometimes one needs the tractor to fix a tire. I didn’t take time to search for pictures or previous posts, but I’ve posted pics before of using the tractor to lift up the 4 wheeler to change a tire and pictures of Josh mowing the lawn with our John Deere riding lawn mower. Anyway. I’ll make this short. I expected him to be mowing the LAWN when he asked if he could go outside and mow. But, when I went out to see exactly what he was doing THIS is what I saw (LOL):

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingSorry.. I forgot to rotate the picture and I don’t have time to go back and do that now since it’s quite a process. Once a picture has been posted to photobucket it doesn’t take an edit. So, I have to delete it. Go to “my pictures” and make a new copy with a different name and then reupload it photobucket and then to blogger. Since this is only a picture of a mower I won’t take the time to do all of that. I don’t know how big this mower deck it is, but it’s significantly larger than our John Deere riding lawn mower. (LOL).Photobucket - Video and Image HostingTater doesn’t know how to run the lawn mower yet, but I could hear him out there pushing his little toy push mower and making his tractor noise. Again, sorry for the sideways picture.

These country boys sure know how to have FUN, don’t they! They love being outside doing anything they consider “meaningful” even things if we adults would call “work.”

LOL – Isn't that how it works though? They ask a seemingly innocent question that we answer & then soon we are going, "Wait a minute, WHAT are they doing??" 😉

Wow Cynthia! I cannot believe that sweetie pushing the toy mower is the same little baby in the green frog outfit! Where did the time go?

What great boys you have there!

This is HILARIOUS!

I love your comment about doing meaningful things. This is a big premise of how we grow youth around here…..find them something meaningful to work together on and they’ll “bond”…. LOL

LITTLE BITES OF HAPPINESS

Nathan’s friend, Noah, came over to hang out today and enjoy one last day of Christmas break before school resumes for both of them tomorrow. On the way home from picking him up at “the bridge,” I asked if the boys wanted some oatmeal for breakfast, but no. They wanted …

COON “HUNTIN”

Early this morning our dog went crazy with barking and howling.  After the sun rose, we found out what all the commotion had been about as he pointed us toward a coon he had treed during the night! Mid morning the boys decided they needed to take care of the …

DUCK PREP

I’m not sure what’s going on with these duck feathers on my dining room table, but the placemat has been moved over to make room for them! And the Egg Nog has been pushed aside to make room for marinating the duck meat!!    I’m not much for animals, dead …
