The weather around here can change in the matter of just a few hours… and in a few days or a week one can barely tell (or remember) that there was a major snowstorm the previous weekend (LOL). Here are pictures from our first snowstorm the weekend before last. The boys went out to move snow. I guess that’s what you do when you can’t move dirt (LOL).
Nathan manned the shovel scooping all the snow from the sidewalks while Josh hooked up the plow to the 4-wheeler and moved all the snow in the driveway.
Poor little guy couldn’t find any winter gloves. They’re still packed away since we weren’t quite ready for winter weather just yet. He had to wear my gardening gloves (LOL). At least their Carharts were close by.
After their work was done it was play time! Perfect weather for snowballs fights.

Poor unsuspecting sister hollering *NO*! You can tell she’s not dressed for winter (LOL)… shorts, a winter coat, and sandals which I accidentally didn’t include in the picture.

They tried pulling the sled behind the 4-wheeler but something must not have been working right on the wench so they decided to do some spinning around in the go-cart instead.

And. They built a snowfort with some of the snow Josh scooped up and piled up from the driveway.

Josh kept saying “don’t worry, mom. It’s not going to cave in on us….”

It wasn’t super cold, but it was cold enough that the heater came on and I sure didn’t want to start using our winter supply of propane just yet so Josh brought some wood up to start a fire. He used the 4-wheeler to bring a supply up from out back yonder at the back of our property and then he hauled it into the front porch. After the weather warms up again he’ll need to stack the wood a little better so it stays dry.

All of the football games were cancelled due to the snow. Josh was SO disappointed because he was really looking forward to playing a game in the snow.
By this past weekend, the snow was completely gone and the ground was dried out enough to play football. We weren’t sure if Josh’s team would make it the playoffs without the benefit of another win, which they’d hoped to score the weekend the games were all cancelled. They won their game this past Saturday which tied them with another team for who would get to go to the playoffs. That team lost their game in triple OT so Josh’s team is going to the playoffs! YEA!
That extends the football season for another week or two depending on how the games go. So, now he’ll have practice again this week and another night game on Thursday night. YEA. He really enjoys playing under the stadium lights. If they win their Thursday night game then they play again on Saturday. The “bowl” games for the teams who make it will all be held the following Saturday (Nov 1st). Basketball starts October 31st. No rest for the weary parents (LOL)… unless they lose on TH night or this coming Sat in which case we would have 4 days without any sports, but of course we hope they win. Who needs 4 days without sports anyway?
