FATHER’S DAY 08

Church

One of the many things I like about our church is its Outreach Ministry. There offer lots of opportunities to invite friends and family to church. On Father’s Day they hosted their 2nd annual car show which included a “burn out” this year. It was TOO loud for Nathan (LOL). After the first burn out we went over to the playground where it wasn’t as noisy. He enjoyed playing. I sat in the shade. The rest of the family tried to stay up wind from the rubber that was flying!

This car won some prize, but I’m not sure what. Most smoke perhaps? Here it’s jus getting going.

Now there so much smoke coming off the tires you can’t even see the car. Incase you can’t tell and/or if you’re wondering, there were water hoses spraying down the tires during the whole process.

It was a timed event. Here’s the car after its time limit. If I remember right there were TWO tow trucks hooked up to the back of each car pulling against it to keep the car from taking off. Before the event there was a special cement pad poured in the parking lot.

The church served hamburgers/hotdogs, chips, soda, etc. It was a great family friendly afternoon of noise and smoke… if you like that sort of thing (Nathan and I don’t, but the rest of the family does). At least I was able to get a picture of Tim and the kids on Father’s Day and that made it worth sticking around the event for awhile.

That is awesome, Cynthia! I agree that outreach is the one of the most important functions of the church, but so many churches have forgotten this.

Most people who enter our church’s car show probably spend the day before polishing and clean up their entries.  Not us!  Nope.  We don’t have a fancy car.  In fact, our rig isn’t even entirely painted.  So, there was no need for polishing and prettying it up!  No, indeed.  Tim …

The kids were SO excited to see a package come in the mail this week from our foreign exchange student, Michaela, who lives in Germany!  She sent something for everyone and they had fun digging through the box to see what was theirs. She included a chocolate spoon for everyone …
