DECEMBER DAILY

One of my real life friends (Lisa) has me hooked on reading Ali Edwards blog. For those who don’t recognize the name, she’s well known in the scrapbooking world for her books and scrapbook designs. She’s an advocate for not making things more complicated than they need to be and for embracing imperfection. Those who know me (even just a little) will recognize right away that she’s the polar opposite of me (LOL) which is why I like to read her blog. I’m trying to let go of some perfectionist tendencies when it comes to my scrapbooking because I’m not making any progress by spending too much time getting things “just so” on each page. Also. I tend to complicate things – unintentionally, of course.
Ali’s signature style, which I’m trying to embrace, is everyday-life scrapbooking. My normal style would be to start a pile of things from this December that would sit in a box on my shelf for a good ten years or more before I got around to scrapping them because I always try to work on my older things first. Unfortunately by the time I get to scrapbooking THIS year I will have forgotten much of what happened this year (LOL). So, in an effort to change my normal style, I’ve decided this December I’m going to jounrey along with her and thousands of others to complete a December Daily project which you can read all about on her website.
The above photo is the cover of my December Daily album which I created in three hours today while giving Em and Josh their spelling tests, listened to Em read her literature, and helped Josh with his math lesson. Now, that’s MY kind of multi-tasking (LOL)!
The page itself is the cover from a lined school notebook which I covered with some green paper. The flowers are from 3 different companies which I stacked on top of each other. The center of the flower is a brad made from a paper color called pomegranite. Merry Memories is a rub on. The word of is from a sticker sheet. The decal where I wrote Dec 08 is from a sheet of similar tags of all different sizes and styles. The ribbon came from one of the project kits I received at the scrapbooking convention I went to in Seattle and the parentheses came from another kit from the same convention.
Please leave me a comment if you decide to make a December Daily album! I’ll post my first 4 days as soon as I add the pictures.

I love this idea! I’m not sure if I’ll have time to do it, but I’m going to go check it out right NOW! I’ll post again if I make one. 😉

Most people who enter our church’s car show probably spend the day before polishing and clean up their entries.  Not us!  Nope.  We don’t have a fancy car.  In fact, our rig isn’t even entirely painted.  So, there was no need for polishing and prettying it up!  No, indeed.  Tim …

POLISHING THE JEEP

Our church has an annual car show on Father’s Day which Tim and Josh decided to enter this year.  While most people are out polishing and cleaning their entries, Tim and the kids were out muddying up our entry! They went across the road to our hayfield where it’s still …
