I have one chapter left of this book and need to post it too. LOL I won’t read your review; still wrestling with what to write. LOL
I’m glad you’re liking revieiwing for Waterbrook – you’re great at it. I have really enjoyed doing it in 2008.
Here is another blog review tour from Waterbrook Press. I’ve really enjoyed the opportunity to participate in these book reviews because they have introduced me to authors and books I may not have read otherwise. I have 2 of these books to give away. If you’d like to be entered in the drawing, please leave me a comment which includes a way to contact you if you’re one of the winners. I will draw the winners on Friday, January 9th.

My Comments: From the title, I had assumed this was a book about changing habits. I’ve read step by step habit changing/life goals type books before and was expecting something along that same line. However, this book is SO MUCH more than that. In fact, it’s entirely different than some of the books I’ve read along this line in the past. First of all. It’s FUNNY. Hilarious, in fact. I LOVED this author’s style. She walks you through analyzing (and you all know I like to do plenty of THAT – lol) various things in your life that might be needing change.
In the first chapter titled The Art of Change, Karen discusses the principles used to create change and how she came to chose “art” as the best way to characterize those principles. I LOVED her explanation of this which is summarized in the following sentences from the book. “Bottom line, if (an artist) is going to bring her vision to life, she’s going to need media, which is a combination of raw materials, and knowledge. That’s pretty much what this book is about. It’s about taking the really cool picture that you envision in your head and creating it as a real thing in your life.” It’s about the art of change.”
I’m a visionary person by nature and have used many of these same principles myself over the years. So, I can give a hearty AMEN to the principles and suggestions in Karen’s book. This is not a step by step guide, but it will give you principles of change to consider which will definitely get you thinking. In fact, this book has caused me to re-evaluate several of the things I’m currently involved in and it has me dreaming of starting some new projects and activities (LOL). Anyone who knows me personally will already know that I thrive on planning new things – especially things that I’ve never done before!
I LOVE the chapter titles. Here are a few that will give you some idea of what you can look forward to in this book:
** What If the Hokey Pokey Really *IS* What It’s All About?
**Warning: Dates in Calendar Are Closer than They Appear
**If at First You Don’t Succeed, Skydiving Is NOT For You
And my personal favorite was the chapter titled: If Everything’s Coming Your Way, You’re In the Wrong Lane! This chapter really makes you stop and think about whether or not the obstacles, road blocks, speed bumps, etc., you might be facing mean you’re in the wrong lane! Sometimes no matter how much changing you do to try to succeed at something, you might just be in the wrong spot at the wrong time.
Finally. I *LOVED* this author’s style and I plan to pick up some other titles by this her. Some of them sound REALLY interesting: Just Hand Over the Chocolate and No One Will Get Hurt; I’m Not Suffering From Insanity – I’m Enjoying Every Minute of It; Chocolatherapy; Due To Rising Energy Costs, The Light at the End of the Tunnel Has been Shut Off!, and more…
