On Sunday, Amanda was supposed to go out sky diving very first thing in the a.m. When we arrived, there was another couple just getting ready to go so we watched them gear up, take off, jump out, and land. All the while the owner of the sky diving company was trying to convince one of us to dive with Amanda. I wouldn’t normally post this many pictures of nearly the same scence, but I couldn’t resist this time because of the looks on Amanda’s face as he is describing what is happening at each phase (LOL). Here he’s talking about how sky diving is so much safer than scuba diving (another sport we enjoy and plan to do several times while here in the Hawaiian Islands).
Then he’s describing why you won’t experience motion sickness on the airplane or while diving like you would on a roller coaster. It makes sense, but so far none of us have changed our minds about sky diving with Amanda.

Then he talks about why being afraid of heights is not something to be worried about even though you’re jumping from a perfectly good airplane from 15,000 feet above the ground! If this guy isn’t careful he just might talk Amanda OUT of jumping!

Here she’s getting all geared up with her diver name “Jesus.” He’s an interesting character.

After watching the previous couple have a rough landed on their behinds due to the lack of much wind, Amanda decided she better put on the dive/mechanic suit.
The other diving instructor is also the airplane mechanic. He has come back to say they need to fix a few bolts on the airplane.
They said it was nothing to worry about and that it would only take a few minutes to fix.
Amanda and “Jesus” head over to take a look.

Hmmm…… I’m not sure Amanda is qualified to be looking under the hood of this shark plane.

See… you can tell by the hand signals that she doesn’t know what’s wrong with the plane.

Turns out it’s a little more serious than they had originally thought. It wouldn’t affect the taking off, but it affects the landing which doesn’t matter to the sky divers since they would already be in the air coming down with a parachute, but evidently the pilot had issues with the problem (LOL) and the rest of the dives were cancelled. She is rescheduled for later in the week. It was definitely an anticlimatic experience… all excited to go, all geared up, wait a few hours only to find out that it’s not going to happen today.
