THE “L” FAMILY & OTHER FRIENDS

oPhotobucketContinuing to answer DeEtta’s question here. Last winter we had talked about going on a cruise with the “L” family, but our families wanted to cruise to different areas so it didn’t work out. Last summer, they started making plans to vacation in Kauai this winter and we tentatively made plans to join them. However, I wasn’t able to plan as far ahead as they were so we didn’t decide until December that Hawaii would be our destination of choice this winter. We were still undecided about going anywhere until right before Christmas when I found some hot deals on airline tickets and the next thing we knew we were on our way to Hawaii!!!! I’m glad they didn’t mind that we ended up in the same spot!

We arrived about 4 days before them and they’ll be staying two days longer than us thanks to their flight being cancelled and moved back a day! Too bad that hasn’t happened to our airline reservations. (LOL). The L’s have two kids still at home. Below, their daughter, Kera, is enjoying some beach time with Em. She is the same age as Josh.

Below is Nathan with his good friend, Sami, who you’ve seen on this blog before if you’ve read it for very long. I have LOTS more pictures of them to post! They are a year apart with Nathan being five and Sami being four.

We’re having a GREAT TIME in Hawaii and it’s nice to have some friends to share a few hours with each day. We’ve been doing mostly different activities during the day, but have been getting together for some beach time in the afternoon or at least some visiting after dinner 🙂

We have some other friends, the “H” family, who arrived in the Hawaii Islands today. You’ve seen pictures of my good friend Lisa here on the blog before. She’s the one that I’ve gone to Seattle with a few times to the scrapbooking convention out there. We haven’t been able to synchronize our vacations with them yet! Maybe next year.
Tim knows a native Hawaiian, Mr. W. who lives here on Kauai. They teach hunter’s safety classes together back home where he lives a few months out of the year. He leaves to go back to our neck of the woods a week after we leave getting there just in time to teach the next hunter’s ed class which Tim will start the week after we get back home. We’re going to have lunch with Mr. W our last day here on the island.
I’ve been surprised at how many people we know who are heading to Hawaii this winter. We know another couple from our church is headed over here a week or so after we get back and today we ran into a family from our home town when we were out getting a SHAVE ICE! It’s a small world, for sure! I guess people are headed here because the tickets are so cheap right now.

I’m typically not one who listens to country music very often, but for some reason I’ve been hearing this song almost everywhere I turn this year and it reminds me so much of our dear friends and our annual (we’ve only had two so far, but who’s counting!) camping trip …

On 6-18-2010, my friend, Rhonda, and I went for our annual home decor shopping trip to one of the local stores which has a spring sale every June.  Last year when we were shopping at this store, I spotted the above vase which I knew would fit this corner perfectly!  However, I …
