TEXTING TYPO

Supposedly the miscommunication regarding what time Em was supposed to head for home tonight is my fault. I beg to differ since she KNOWS that I’m not very good at texting and if she was so shocked by the time I stated in the text, she should have texted (or better yet called)again to clarify, don’t you think?
TEXT MESSAGES:
EM: What time do you want me home?
ME: I am tired. I guess Josh and “S” can wait up for you. Can you leave by 1 ;30. (NOTICE THE SPACE where most would assume there should have been another number… a “0” or even another “1 ” wouldn’t have been too bad). Will that work?
EM: Oh Gosh Yes. (Her surprise should have clued me in that something was wrong)
ME: Ok. TXT Josh when you leave town so he knows when to expect you.
EM: Ok. And, I’m sure it will take 45-50 minutes to get home cuz it’s dark.
ME: Ok. That’s fine. It’s better to be slow and safe.
EM: Yea It is.
I gave Josh the instructions to listen for Em’s text at 10:30 and to give her until 11:30 to get home. He was to wake me up if she wasn’t home by 11:30. Around 10:45 Josh comes in to inquire about the time Em was supposed to leave because she hasn’t texted him yet to say she’s on her way.
ME: I thought you were going to leave at 10:30?
EM: No. I never said that.
—-end of text messages —— now we go to verbal communication instead of texting which is always a better plan if I’m involved (LOL).
ME: scrolling back through the messages to find the text that said she agreed to leave for home at 10:30 when I see my typo just as Em calls.
EM: Mom. You CLEARLY said 1:30. I thought that was late. I’d never drive home that late, but I didn’t know what time you used to let Amanda come home.
This incident reminds me of my first few texts after the plan was added to my phone. Here’s how one of those early txt conversations went:
ME: (to Amanda) – Call me.
Amanda: Call me? That defeats the purpose of texting.
Ok. Maybe you don’t find that as funny as we did, but we STILL laugh about all the times I texted her saying “CALL ME!” I think I should go back to those types of texts. At least we’d avoid the confusion we had tonight.

We don't have texting, but I KNOW I would have the same problem, Cynthia!
LOL! That's hilarious, Cindy! "Mom. You CLEARLY said 1:30." LOL!!
This makes me chuckle. I am not a texter either…. yet. I am sure the day is coming soon, though, with Jackson getting older.
Love it! That would be me. My sister gets annoyed because I never even have my phone ON let alone use it. I tell people it's for MY convenience not theirs! I have a tracfone so it's pretty low key. I have only sent out about 4-5 texts & most were to my hubby. 😉 LOL
That's so funny! That's still what I text to my 18 year old college student…CALL ME.
Oh that is so funny! I haven't gone to texting yet! I am certain I would have the same types of issues.
Oh my – this is hilarious!
I never told you how very funny I found this post! ::snort:: It's great.
