BREADMAKING!

Two weeks ago I got up one morning and decided I would make some bread… not sure what got into me because I had PLENTY to do that day without adding one more thing to my very long list. I made several loaves with the above one being the last and best! It sure LOOKS PRETTY doesn’t it… all natural… whole wheat, honey, etc. The first loaf, below left didn’t look so good and it was as hard as a rock…. My loaf of whole wheat banana bread without ANY YEAST AT ALL rose more than the whole wheat bread with yeast.

I emailed my SHS loop friends wondering with questions about what I might have done wrong. They emailed back several suggestions and I tried a few more loaves. As soon as I saw how much this dough had risen I knew we finally had a good mix of all ingredients! WHOO HOO. Now to find a way to speed up the process, keep the outside from getting too hard, be able to slice it think enough for sandwiches, etc., and maybe this might become a regular event around our home! If nothing else, it sure makes the kitchen smell good!

I suppose it takes until one decides to be a little more home makerish? For me it’s the realization that this is our oldest dd’s last year at home… sniff… sniff…… Now I’m on a mission to do EVERYTHING I’ve never gotten around to doing and I plan to do it all in the next year (LOL)!

LOl to De’Etta’s comment. It took 7 years of homeschooling here and now I make bread all the time! Yum your bread looks wonderful queenbee, hmmm I think I may may try some new and interesting shapes like in my large glass measuring cup…is that what you used for one of the loaves? Yes it sure does make the kitchen smell nice, even garlic bread does, LOL.

Jodi from SHS (I don’t know if signed my name to it but I just commented on the ash photos too, it’s so hard to be anonymous!)
