KEENS

Cindy

TThis is quite the story. It was SO FUNNY that Emily decided to write about it for her free journal assignment for co-op last week. You’ll see it below. On a side note, after Emily wrote her free journal there was one more little switch-a-roo with the KEENS. I really didn’t want the purple ones because I don’t wear very much purple. I wear a size smaller than Amanda so I could keep her black ones. I decided to take mine back and Amanda decided to wait for the new style which comes out next week to see if they have any colors since she didn’t want the black color that were the only ones we could get in her size before Christmas. When I went to take these back I decided to look one last time and see if by chance they had any blacks in my size and they DID. So, I exchanged Amanda’s shoes for a size that fit me and returned my purple ones. I’ll give Amanda that $$ which she can apply toward the purchase of hers when the new ones come out (LOL)! This story has given us many laughs the last few weeks!

We ALL tried our shoes on…. trying each other’s sizes and colors.

Emily already had her shoes so there weren’t any pictures of her opening hers (LOL) and I think the camera battery had run out by the time I got around to opening mine. So, here is Amanda opening her KEENS and she’s TOTALLY surprised. She had NO idea that we were getting her some.

Here is Emily’s journal entry about this story:

There was a big “KEEN” mess at Christmas this year. The mess started two weeks before Christmas when my dad took my siblings and I shopping for my mom’s birthday. I found the coolest pair of orange KEENS on sale at the mall. I went home and told my mom all about them begging and begging her to buy them for me for Christmas. She said, “no you have toO many pairs of shoes and already have a pair CHACOS that are like KEENS.” I thought that meant she wouldn’t buy them for me.

I really wanted them and was determined to get them so I asked my Grandma if she would buy them for me for my birthday, which is in February, since she had already taken me Christmas shopping. She said, “yes, I’ll buy them for your birthday.” When my birthday comes, I’ll have to remind her that she already bought me something.

I was worried that the sale would end or the store would run out of them before my Grandma could get there to buy them so I sent some of my money with Amanda so she could go pick them up and my Grandma was going to pay me back. Amanda came home late that night so, of course, she slept in until 11:00 a.m. the next morning and I was up at 8:00 waiting for my shoes. When she woke up she told me that she forgot to go buy my shoes, but really what happened is that my mom told her not to buy the shoes since my mom had already purchased them.

The next day, my grandma went to town and bought my shoes. My mom was at the post office when my grandma came up to give them to me. When my mom got home she had a funny look on her face because in the meantime, my mom had already bought them, wrapped them, and put them under the tree. My mom tried to call my grandma to stop her from purchasing them, but it was too late.

That night when I had my shoes and I was showing them to my family, my mom tried them on and decided that she really liked them. When my mom left the room, my dad, Amanda, and I decided that we should get her a pair for Christmas. My mom and I wear the same size so my sister came up with a plan to take back the ones that she knew were under the tree for me and exchange them for a different color for my mom. When Amanda and my mom went shopping, my mom decided to go home and Amanda “offered” to take back my pair of shoes. But, my mom would not give her the receipt because she had purchased a pair of KEENS for Amanda on the same receipt and she didn’t want Amanda to know she bought two pairs or she would figure out that she was getting a pair. But, Amanda was able to exchange them without the receipt and got a pair for my mom.

On Christmas morning, we had the video camera and the camera and everyone was ready to watch Amanda open her pair of KEENS. She was SHOCKED that she got a pair. The expression on her face is hilarious. She had no idea. A little while later, we had the video camera and camera ready again when my mom opened her pair of KEENS and she was just as surprised.

In the end, all three of us ended up with a pair of KEENS.

EARLY MORNING VIEW

I love that the days are getting longer!   There was a beautiful view of the moon early this morning which reminded me of this song by Steven Curtis Chapman.   …”Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee…   Holy. Holy, holy…”

TICKLER FILES

I have always used a Tickler Filing system for bill paying and other things which have dated deadlines.  I have 6 such red files which are numbered with the dates as follows:  1-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20, 21-25, and 26-31.  I don’t have enough dated deadlines to warrant a file for …

BUCKET ORGANIZER

This metal bucket with dividers is one of my most favorite office organizing tools!!  In fact, I would venture say it’s one of a dozen things I would consider “office essentials.”  It has six areas for keeping a variety of office essentials neatly organized! This is what I keep in …
