4TH OF JULY

Ok.. I know that summer is LONG gone, but I’m not ready for this year to be over. I somehow missed blogging July and August! Hopefully I will get these months blogged sometime before the end of this year (LOL).

Every summer our church puts on a Celebrate Freedom festival at a local park.

Of course, there’s music as well. Several bands play throughout the entire day. Tim has played the last several years with several other guys from our worship team. He’s the one playing the bass – in the white shirt. Our friend, Kris, is playing lead guitar.

Lots of people sit around enjoying the music of their favorite bands! This band is, of course, our family’s favorite! Amanda and Nathan are sitting right up front! Nathan keeps saying he wants to be in a band when he grows up. When I ask if he’s going to play the keyboard, bass, or drums, he says “Nope. I’m going to be the one UP FRONT singing and playing the guitar!!”

Here Nathan is talking to Amanda’s friend, Libby. I’m sure he’s discussing some part of the music with her. He likes to talk about all the parts of the songs and what each instrument is doing, etc.

The park where this event is held has a splash/fountain area for kids. We spent quite a bit of time over there.

We met some friends there which added to the fun. Here’s Nathan with his friend, Sami. They weren’t to impressed with being told to stand still for a minute so I could snap a picture.

Sami was always running about and I would usually just miss her (LOL)! I did happen to catch a few pictures of her running through the water.

Then the kids wanted to move over to the waterslides. It took some coaxing to get Sami down the first time.

Nathan was at the bottom cheering her on!

We’re sure glad Sami and her parents could meet us here! It’s so much fun to have a friend to hang out with at the park.

After the sun goes down, our church finishes the day off with a fire works show! It was AWESOME! Nathan doesn’t like the loud noises though. He watched them for a few minutes and then covered up his ears, snuggled up in a blanket and fell asleep.

We had a GREAT day enjoying life with friends, family, and church. Amanda was sitting in a different area with some of her friends so I didn’t know until a few hours later that while we were enjoying the spectacular fireworks show, she and her friends were rallying around one of their friends who was in the emergency room. See next post.

I missed the part that said it was Tim–but it LOOKED like him, I thought. It wasn’t until I read DeEtta’s comment that I looked at the pic again and saw that it was!

Looks like a great time, nice big church. And nice to see summer pics in December, lol.

PONTOON

I’m typically not one who listens to country music very often, but for some reason I’ve been hearing this song almost everywhere I turn this year and it reminds me so much of our dear friends and our annual (we’ve only had two so far, but who’s counting!) camping trip …

On 6-18-2010, my friend, Rhonda, and I went for our annual home decor shopping trip to one of the local stores which has a spring sale every June.  Last year when we were shopping at this store, I spotted the above vase which I knew would fit this corner perfectly!  However, I …
