PhotobucketThis is one of our all time favorite summer time recipes. I have no idea where it came from, but we’ve been making it for YEARS! I hope you enjoy it.

BUSTER BARS

1 large carton cool whip
1 sm package peanuts
1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream
1 package oreo cookies
1/2 cup butter
fudge topping – I use the homemade recipe below

Crush cookies setting aside 1 cup. Mix remaining crumbs with melted butter in a 9x13cake pan. Spread softened ice cream on top. (I cut it in 1/2 inch or so slices and lay the slice around in the pan). Pour hot fudge on top. Sprinkle with peanuts. Top with cool whip. Sprinkle remaining cookie crumbs on top. Freeze.

HOT FUDGE SAUCE:

1/2 cup sugar
3 T cocoa
1 1/2 T cornstarch
1/2 cup hot water
2 T butter
1 t vanilla
dash of salt

Mix above ingredients in sauce pan. Boil until thick.

You have been very busy working on your blog, I know. I love the new look, the new sections. And these bars look incredible!!!!
